National marae???
editThe lead says that it is the national marae, how was this decided? is this true? Isn't Maoridom to disperse for this? Or is it the marae of the kingi movement? Cause that ain't nationwide. --222.154.123.120 10:19, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

More general meaning of the word
editI see here that Turangawaewae is a proper noun. It's also a common noun, meaning "a place to stand". (See for example Trevor W. Bentley, Images of Pakeha-Maori, p.196.) Aridd (talk) 11:17, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
