TV Everywhere abbreviated TVE? Can find no reliable source.
editI noted the other day that "TV Everywhere" was added to the disambiguation page TVE. This seemed reasonable to me, and I checked the article initially expecting TVE to be mentioned there. Even when it was not, it still seemed to me to be an intuitively reasonable acronym, so I decided to try and find a reasonably reliable resource using Google. All I found (and have found to date) have been primary sources in the form of press releases and statements from comcast and related "insiders". It seems to me that while this may be a buzzword within the industry, it may not have gained coverage in verifiable secondary sources and therefore may not as yet have passed the threshold criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia. Google searches with large or small numbers of hits (and in my opinion, the 29,200 quoted here is small) do not make a reliable source. I cannot see a truly reliable source amongst the Google hits nor in my own searches, and none of the sources (reliable or otherwise) given in the article use the term TVE. A search of comcast's own website briungs up TVE only as a channel name (presumably Spanish TV).
The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material (WP:BURDEN). Please cite a reliable source (that is, a reliable, third-party, published source with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy) that uses the acronym TVE for TV Everywhere. Thank you. --MegaSloth (talk) 00:54, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have added a citation from Google Books. Does it meet the standard of "reliable, third-party, published source with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy"? --Pengyanan (talk) 06:32, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
- It would certainly seem to be fine. Thanks very much for providing it. --MegaSloth (talk) 10:43, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
This is not merely a verification system
editAt this point, the articles in Broadcasting & Cable that I am reading--even though I am several months behind, treat this topic as if we know what it is. I need to do further research (or anyone else can; that's how this place works!) to find out if this is true, but the way the topic is covered, I don't think it is merely the verification system. I have yet to find the source where I read it was the concept.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:27, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
