"To do" list

edit

Editorial material (such as material that needs to be added in the proper place) shouldn't be left in the article, but either on a temp page in the editor's user space, or here. I've thus moved this:

=== to be ranked ===

I,ve added the arabic for this article, yet the original tranliteration is grossly inaccurate. Is there a way that it can be changed? I will be expanding this article in the future.Wilis.azm 04:51, 31 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

definition of Tabi'in

edit

I have defined the Tabi'i as the person who was born after the death of prophet Muhammad but who was also a contemporary of the Sahabah. I know there are other definitions but I think this is the most widely accepted definition among Muslims at least. I hope this is a good addition to the article.Marwan123 19:39, 17 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

more examples of Tabi'in

edit

The article says 'Some examples of Tabi‘in:' yet only shows one of them, more should be expected since it says 'examples' and not 'example'

Question regarding this article's Shia view section

edit

I posed a question in Talk:Abd_al-Malik that impacts this article as well. Adapted from what I wrote there:

In the Tabi‘un article, Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan is listed under Negative view, although no reason is given. I quickly read through the wikilinked biographic article to find out why he's viewed negatively and I could not find any information.

If I missed some obvious answer in the Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan article, I apologize; I'm a bit tired today. But otherwise I think there should be a section in one or both articles comparing and contrasting how he is viewed by Sunnis and Shias and possibly others, since he seems to be a significant figure. If we are talking about two different people with similar names and this article's Abd al-Malik is held in high esteem by most Islamic groups, that should be clarified in both articles AND the wikilink in the Tabi'un article should point to the correct person.

Thanks for your help and work, --Geekdiva (talk) 05:02, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

edit

The Shia views were removed. Looking at the history I see that this is not the first time. WP:NPOV means that all perspectives should be given their due weight not. You should not remove Shia views just because it is not consistent with Sunni views. If this continues the page should be semi-locked to avoid this kind of vandalism. 24.212.193.99 (talk) 08:36, 16 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I suspect particularly because there's no really scientific construct reasoning in the realm of Shiite regarding Tabi'un, it is just not in the Shiite scope of Fiqh because they basing in Imamate; which arguably the semi-monarchy fiqh, unlike Ahl Sunnah which constructing the reasoning of status of Sahabi or Tabi'un through layered and careful observation narrationsAhendra (talk) 20:18, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
