Radiated power for FM radio
editTacolneston transmits all 5 FM radio services at a maximum combined power of 250kW for each broadcast service.
Confusion regarding the effective radiated power (ERP) for each FM service is common, as the BBC tends to state both the vertically polarised (VP) component and the horizontally polarised (HP) component as a combined power (i.e. 250kW = 125kW VP + 125kW HP). For commercial radio (i.e. INR1/Classic FM), OFCOM tends to quote the components separately (i.e 125kW VP, 125kW HP = 250kW).
As you will see from the BBC Reception website, BBC Radio 1, 2, 3 & 4 are state as having 250kW, and on OFCOM's technical parameters spreadsheet, Classic FM is given as 125kW VP + 125kW HP.
To avoid confusion, it would probably be best to use the combined ERP for each service (i.e. 250kW) in the main article.
