Boxing Hall of Fame
editI removed the statement that Dorgan was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. The only reference I could find to support it was a single newspaper article, but I think the list of inductees of the organization itself , where Dorgan is NOT listed, trumps that. Thomas Aloysius Dorgan → Tad Dorgan — This was his professional name. He was known to everyone as Tad Dorgan. Tad Dorgan brings over 30,000 Google results, while the other name brings less than 5000 (mostly mirror pages of the Wikipedia page). Pepso2 (talk) 18:54, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Clarification about retirement
editI slightly altered the "Life in Great Neck" section because of a somewhat misleading statement about TAD retiring in the early 1920s. While it is true that he retired, on doctor's orders, from covering live sports events (he had a heart attack in the middle of a Jack Dempsey fight!) in the early 20s, he continued to draw both "Indoor Sports" and "Judge Rummy" for the Hearst papers up until he died in 1929. I didn't source this, because it's plain to see in any newspaper archive. I own several TAD original drawings published in the mid to late 1920s which bear this out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.96.46.105 (talk) 23:28, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Yes Man
editHe supposedly originated the term in a 1913 cartoon "Giving the First Edition the Once-over'. 2001:56A:F414:D300:E834:A4BC:5C35:D75C (talk) 19:50, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
- Yes M'aam. I'd said, no ( A-L-S-2 [1] ). --Askedonty (talk) 23:02, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
Flivver
editI have just read a reference crediting TAD with coining the word 'flivver' for 'any small car'.
Anyone able to support this? Bluedawe 07:50, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- Well, I found a source to support the statement that Dorgan made this claim (cited in wikt:flivver). Whether he was correct is another issue entirely. DS (talk) 05:36, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
Daffydils Spelling
editCould we change the spelling of "Daffydills" to "Daffydils"? E.g. see the spelling here on a collection of Dorgan's Daffydils cartoons.
You can see numerous other examples of the correct spelling in the focused Wikimedia Commons media page: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Daffydils KKelvinThompson (talk) 23:22, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
