Regarding the statement regarding Daryl is there a source to back this up? I searched the web several times in vain to come up with any mention. Also I find "So for now Billy should receive all praise for the fitness success that is Tae Bo" to be rather awkward. Is it really the place of an encyclopedia to state who should or should not be receiving praise? Priest4hire 07:12, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Tae bo vs other styles
editHeres a big putdown for all you tae bo fans.
In the 2003 movie "Bringing down the house" starring Queen Latifah, she has a catfight against Missi Pyle.
Missi Pyle kicks her onto a sofa and says compliments tae bo. Next minute, the sexy Queen gives her a black eye and dips her head in the toilet bowl-"Compliments to the hood".
- Means nothing. First of all, it's fictional, secondly, it's irrelevant. No style of fighting will make you invulnerable.--RLent 21:52, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
tae bo mental challenge?
edit"Working all of their major muscles, participants of Tae Bo are challenged physically and mentally."
How exactly does Tae Bo offer a mental challenge? 69.158.67.236 15:34, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
I believe the mental challenge refers to the practitioners internal struggle while doing the exercises. When doing a long or challenging workout one might be tempted to quit, so it is necessarily to be 'mentally strong' and motivate yourself to keep going. Perhaps mental isn't the best word; what would you suggest as a replacement? ArchetypeRyan (talk) 18:53, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
Martial art
editMany people ACTUALLY believe that it is a martial art. Bringing dow the house portrays it realistically. 210.9.15.116 15:30, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Registered Trademarks?
editWhat is the deal with ® pasted on after every mention of Tae Bo®? Is there an actual policy regarding the use the trademark symbol? I checked a number of other articles dealing with trademarked goods and not one had the ® symbol used so heavily or consistently. Priest4hire 23:18, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
Neutrality issue
editThis article doesn't really seem neutral. It sounds like it was written as a press release. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.172.255.128 (talk) 12:07, 3 February 2007 (UTC).
- I think I have addressed all the npov issues and will now take down the notice.--TrustTruth 23:05, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Trivia?
editIs the Trivia tag really needed? I'm a bit new to the policy, but lists of pop culture references appear to be a separate issue from trivia, and are generally acceptable if not too large. Verdatum (talk) 06:16, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, personally I think they can enhace some articles, but the general Wikipedia consensus discourages lists of that type. Repackaging them in prose form in the main body of the article would be better. --Bradeos Graphon (talk) 20:56, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
motivated by drugs?
editdeveloped the routine in 1989 when he and his friends Michael Jackson and Steve Irwin were smoking marijuana. They needed more money for recreational drugs
This does not sound right. --data64 (talk) 01:16, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
References
editWhere are they? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dumaka (talk • contribs) 17:40, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Reference 8, after "As with any form of exercise, it can promote "positive mental health as indicated by relief in symptoms of depression and anxiety," as stated in a study on the effects of exercise on mental health by Arizona State University researcher Daniel M. Landers". The article that is being referred to does not mention any of that. The third instance of ref. 8 should be replaced with a better reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.73.205.82 (talk) 10:45, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Health Risks
editIt's good to see the potential dangers of Tae Bo listed in the article alongside the benefits, but I find the presentation and wording worrisome. The main sentence that bothers me is this one:
"If practiced sincerely at regular intervals Tae Bo can prove to be very beneficial for the cardiac muscles, blood-pressure and other body parts. On the other hand, if started or practiced in an abrupt, uneven manner can cause reduction in the lymphocyte number and can harm the immune system to a very great extent. "
First of all, this is lifted directly from the article in the references without being paraphrased at all. Second of all, the source doesn't really look like a reputable site. It seems to just list a lot of general information without citing sources while maintaining lots of ads and making claims like "Tae Bo is the hottest work out!".
As for the content of the sentence, the dangers of Tae Bo listed sound like serious physical repercussions that would take blood tests and research to prove. On the other hand, what seem like obvious potential risks - sprained limps, achy joints, pulled muscles, high impact movement, etc. - aren't even mentioned.
I'd like to remove the sentence above, but perhaps we could find another source with so proper information on the health risks of high impact sports. ArchetypeRyan (talk) 19:03, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
I came here to say basically the exact same thing. The source is obviously... "less than rigorous" with proving its claims, but I think this little gem about Tae Bo addiction takes the cake. "Rigorous work-outs seem a piece of cake and one turns all other aspects of life down to stick to Tae Bo" indeed. Decaheximal (talk) 15:54, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Article reads like an infomercial
editDid Billy write it? (delete) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.111.243.185 (talk) 01:33, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- It certainly reads like a commercial. All this stuff about 'soul, mind and body' being 'connected' sounds exciting, but it doesn't have a place in an encyclopedia. Are there trustworthy sources backing these statements up? If so, please add them. Otherwise it should be removed. Radioflux (talk) 10:22, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
