Title
editApart from Taggart and Blake's Seven are there any series (book, TV etc) where the "title name" has continued somewhat after the eponymous lead character has departed (for whatever reasons)? Jackiespeel 22:17, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes - Dangerfield continued without the character of Dr. Dangerfield after Nigel Le Vaillant left (the medical centre the show was set in was renamed 'Dangerfield Medical Centre' in his honour so that the change made sense. The forensics drama McCallum also continued without Dr. McCallum after John Hannah left. Smurfmeister (talk) 16:00, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Title change
editI've edited in information about the title changes after Mark McManus's death (firstly the addition of the suffix 'The Legend Lives On' and later 'Legends') but I don't know exactly when the changes, or the reversion, happened - if anyone else does feel free to add! Smurfmeister (talk) 16:00, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, I have no recollection of such a series title change, however the title of the first episode aired after Mark McManus's death was "Legends" (according to http://www.taggart-fanclub.co.uk/taggart.htm)... perhaps there's some confusion here? 17:07, 19 Mar 2009 (UTC)
- As a big fan of the series I know I would have remembered that. Maybe that was said during an advert but there was no official change. Without some citation I'm thinking someone made it up (The only mentions on Google seem to have been generated from this article) so I've removed that reference and think it should definitely stay off until someone can cite source 92.23.196.218 (talk) 18:01, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Maryhill CID
editIs it still set there? I've not heard Maryhill being mentioned in the show for ages and maybe I've even heard something like "central" or something similar. Not that I think there was ever an episode where they moved office, but recently I think they've been implying that they are Glasgow headquarters based.92.23.196.218 (talk) 00:11, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- Maryhill is an area of Glasgow. They are still Maryhill CID. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.168.172.203 (talk) 22:52, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Trope?
edit"Trope" might not be the word, but anyway... it seems to be a recurring theme that every case investigated somehow involves someone from one or more of the four main characters' pasts. Worth mentioning? Or should I fuck off and die? -79.79.214.125 (talk) 07:02, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Computer generated characters
editToday, Sunday 11 July 2010, I saw an episode of Taggart that had been recorded recently, which appeared to be completely generated by computer, video and sound. I doubt there were any actors involved. This page gives no information and still lists people among the cast.
I have seen this elsewhere recently, for instance on episodes of "The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes". This is a heads up for anyone who might know the story behind this. 79.79.167.112 (talk) 15:54, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Why did someone change the Country from UK to Scotland?
editThis is a British TV programme and has an Audience all over the United Kingdom, Taggart is also in the Wiki British TV shows portal. It is also aired by ITV a British service, it is only common-sense the name be changed.Tamarin2010 (talk) 00:00, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Nationality of people from the United Kingdom for an explanation of why you are wrong. --John (talk) 00:30, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm not wrong, if you look on any persons pass-port or legal document from the United Kingdom there Nationality will say "British". This programme has nothing to do with peoples Nationalities, ITV paid for "Taggart" to be aired through out the United Kingdom will you please refer to the meaning of "British", if the programme is watched through out the United Kingdom which means it makes profits through out the UK then this means its origins are in the UK, that is a fact. You don't have to tell me what my own country is made up of.Tamarin2010 (talk) 00:52, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- You are wrong and you really need to read up on how to edit wikipedia and stop running edits over multiple articles based on a strong POV--Snowded TALK 05:53, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
I am not wrong, ITV is a UK wide Broadcaster which makes profits from all over the United Kingdom (And the World) it has an audience from all over the UK the country of Origin is "United Kingdom" and not Scotland. Coronation Streets country of Origin is "United Kingdom" and not "England" so I don't see what is so special about Taggart being "Scotland" when it is just not factual. I am stressing again wikipedia is about fact and not about biased Nationalism of Constituent countries of the United Kingdom. Also Taggart is in "WikiProject British TV shows" not the "Scottish" (If it even exists) please refer to reality. Tamarin2010 (talk) 12:35, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- If you want to change Coronation Street I think you have a case. On Taggart you might want to check your facts, its an STV production (the S stands for Scotland) , its identity is Glaswegian which is reflected in the lede. You are soapboxing, please stop --Snowded TALK 12:41, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
The term "STV" is just a brand for ITV, STV is not an Independent Broadcaster it is set up by ITV. Will you please research your facts. ITV paid for Taggart to be aired to the United Kingdom public ITV also paid for Taggart to even be released to the Public, since Taggart is an ITV production and ITV being a UK broadcaster I'm afraid the programme originates in the United Kingdom and not Scotland alone. My case for the name being changed from "Scotland" to "United Kingdom" has never been stronger. Tamarin2010 (talk) 12:54, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- STV is the company which holds the ITV franchise for Scotland, its not an ITV brand. Taggart is produced by a Scottish company and has a Scottish identity. You case is weak and unless other editors support you then you have no consensus for change --Snowded TALK 12:56, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
I will always disagree with this and as you said I need support from Editors which clearly I am never going to achieve, I will drop this debate just now and move on to other articles. Tamarin2010 (talk) 13:19, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
International airings
editAny world-wide Wikipedia-ers that can shed some light on specifically where else Taggart is shown internationally? We are often told it is broadcast to 80 countries, or whatever, but struggling to find bona-fide proof for Wikipedia. Help? Dundedia (talk) 22:22, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I remember watching it as a kid (i.e. 1993-98, smth. like that, give or take a year) in Russia. I don't recall much of the plot, but there certainly was Inspector Taggart (so... series till '94?), it was shown late-late night. Oh, and I still remember musical theme from that broadcasting (I couldn't hear it anywhere else). Name was "Таггарт" or "Таггерт". I wonder what station it was... --11:35, 4 July 2011 (UTC)188.19.233.1 (talk)Siergiej s-karn@yandex.ru

Colin McCredie in Taggart playing a car thief
editNot sure if this is worth a mention, but watching "Prayer for the Dead" I saw someone who I'm sure is Colin McCredie appear as a young car thief. For example, skip 8.00 minutes into http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJ9tsIVicBc A bit odd, if he's playing DC Stuart Fraser in the very next episode! 217.155.229.10 (talk) 20:46, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- It's not unknown for actors to be recast in the same continuity as different characters; see, for instance, Freema Agyeman in Doctor Who. However, we'd need solid evidence rather than "it looks like him" to prove one way or the other. drewmunn talk
After episode 109?
editThe article makes to reference as to where Taggart has gone since the episodes #104 - #109 were aired in 2010. Have any been filmed by STV since 2010? Or is the series now defunct, in which case the 'History' in the article should reflect the fact that is has come to an end with the 2010 series? Rif Winfield (talk) 18:19, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
- Also is Alibi showing classic episodes (like UKTV's Drama channel tonight) or new episodes? 1701Will (talk) 20:59, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
