Shinmachi
editNormally, yes, -machi is a suffix meaning town. However in the case of Shinmachi, this is literally the name of the town/area. Before merging with Takasaki, it was Shinmachi-shi. Therefore, calling it "Shin" is weird. Locals here would be confused if referred to as such. And yes, I live here if you were wondering. Scarreddragon (talk) 01:53, 2 May 2011 (UTC)scarreddragon
