Objection to renaming to "Takenaka"
editI suggest to revert the name of this article to Takenaka Corporation, or rename to Takenaka Corp. because;
- "Takenaka" is one of common Japanese surnames such as Heizo Takenaka, Masahisa Takenaka, Naoto Takenaka. That's why I think the word "Corporation" or "Corp." is essential to clarify that this article describes the company of "Takenaka Corporation" (Takenaka Komuten; 竹中工務店). The same can be said for;
- Hazama, which refers to Hazama Corporation (Hazama Gumi; 間組)
- Obayashi, which refers to Obayashi Corporation (Obayashi Gumi; 大林組), ref. Talk:Obayashi
- Shimadzu, which refers to Shimadzu Corporation (Shimadzu Seisakusho; 島津製作所), ref. Talk:Shimadzu
See also; - Kubota Corporation (Kubota; クボタ, originally in Kanji 久保田)
- Mizuno Corp. (Mizuno; ミズノ, originally in Kanji 水野)
- Sumitomo Corp. (Sumitomo Shoji; 住友商事)
- Kajima Corporation (Kajima Kensetsu; 鹿島建設)
- Shimizu Corporation (Shimizu Kensetsu; 清水建設)
- In addition in this case, the word "Corporation" does not exactly indicate the official legal status of the company, because almost all companies of Japan are classified into Kabushiki kaisha irrespective of the company's name in English (e.g. "Corporation", "Inc.", "Co., Ltd." and "Limited"). --J o 17:35, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- I am going to renaming this article to "Takenaka Corp." because it seems to be no objection to my suggestion. --J o 15:34, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I overlooked that this article already renamed to "Takenaka Corporation". --J o 15:40, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Potentially useful source
editThe building which houses the Nippon Club in mid-Manhattan was built by Takenaka.
The following hyperlink was removed from the article about the club here:
The perspective of this source is interesting. The point-of-view of this writer does suggest arguably useful edits to Nippon Club (New York) and Takenaka Corporation; but perhaps it will need corroborating support and context. --Tenmei (talk) 20:38, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Issues section
editBack in June 2016, I added an "Issues" section (translated from a number of issues included on the Japanese-language page) - mainly to save the page from looking like a Takenaka Corporation brochure. This was promptly - and entirely - deleted. Why? Tripbeetle (talk) 05:05, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
