Japanese scription

edit

The most common scription for takoyaki in Japanese is たこ焼き.

This is just a quick comparison of the different versions and the googled results at the time of this writing:

  • たこ焼き 3,730,000
  • たこ焼 807,000
  • 蛸焼き 507
  • 蛸焼 753
  • 章魚焼き 1,030 - Most frequent pages found were direct copies of the previous edits of this article.
  • 章魚焼 129
  • 鮹焼き 21
  • 鮹焼 28

I conclude that the overwhelming representation of takoyaki in Japanese is たこ焼き and have therefore made it the first to appear. While たこ焼 is also relatively common, less than one fourth of all responses, the missing okurigana is the only difference and it seems pointless to include this scription in the article. The other previously listed option 章魚焼き was much less than 1% and therefore I see it highly unnecessary to include this in the article. Sudachi 10:13, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nallimbot

edit

Nallimbot keeps adding completely incorrect and unrelated info, can whoever owns this bot keep it under control a little?--86.87.28.191 (talk) 16:36, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think the reason the bot is linking to poffertjespan isn't because it thinks they're the same thing, but because the poffertjespan article on the Dutch wikipedia also contains a section about takoyaki. Perhaps they shouldn't be in the same article, but that's a problem with another wiki, and as long as they are in the same article then I think the link should stay.Rohein (talk) 07:20, 14 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

literally

edit

"literally fried or grilled octopus" removed because 1) the dish is not fried 2) the ocotpus never touches the grill so how can it be grilled and 3) these "literally" comments do nothing to help the understanding of what the subject is. It's a nuance of the Japanese language that is better explained in the body of the article as it is this article already. 219.106.152.19 (talk) 02:58, 12 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The article is unbalanced - shouldn't the lead be shorter than the body? Anyone mind if I move most of the material in the lead to the body? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 14:07, 25 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I tried it. How was it?--Kyoww (talk) 12:55, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
