"However, doubt has been cast on Nishimura's guilt."
editThe citation for this statement does not support the statement. In fact, the cited source strongly argues that the doubts cast on Nishimura's guilt by journalist Ian Ward are unfounded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.103.113.132 (talk) 04:17, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- I believe the recent edits puts this section too far the other way, creating an appearance of taking sides in a controversy. I've left it for now since it is supported by a source, but I think more neutral language is warranted. --Yaush (talk) 17:24, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Date of death
editWe show 11 June in the lede, but 12 June further down. Which is it? -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 07:09, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Date of Death is seemingly 12th June 1951
editAt page 3 in the "West Australian" newspapers "Big Weekend" section of April 21, 2001, Harry Morris, an Engineer, the Head of the Commonwealth Department of Works and Housing's civilian contingent on Manus Island, who had responsibility for building the scaffold, said, of one Ken Jarvis, the electrical foreman and an ex Army Sergeant, who was one of eight who volunteered to be executioner: "At 5am on June 12, 1951, Mr Jarvis began to hang five Japanese ..." And, Mr Norris goes on to say that by 7am he got word that Mr Jarvis was "in the mess... demonstrating to his mates how he'd hung the Japanese". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alipius (talk • contribs) 08:11, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
No, just the date is in error: it was the 11th June
editA full description of the execution is given at page 3 of the Sydney Morning Herald of the 12th June, 1951. The article can be found at:http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/18221323?searchTerm=nishimura&searchLimits=l-title=35. It also confirms what is in "The West Australian" referred to above. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alipius (talk • contribs) 08:30, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
