Notes for Reviewers

edit

The initial draft was rejected by reviewers. I have included even more information to indicate Tekin's influence on Turkology. Per WP:NACADEMIC, Tekin clearly meets the following criteria:

1. The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources.

The article mentions the Festschrifts in his honor and the obituary from the Turkish Language Association talks about his importance to the field. There are several obituaries in scholarly journals.

4. The person's academic work has made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions.

Tekin taught at Hacettepe University and Yeditepe University and spent significant amounts of time at IU Bloomington and UC Berkeley

5. The person has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon.

Tekin was invited to start and chair a new department of Turkish language and literature at Yeditepe University after his retirement.

8. The person has been the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal in their subject area.

Tekin founded the journal Türk Dilleri Araştırmaları/Researches in Turkic Languages.

Per the reviewer's note: This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject.

The vast majority of sources are from scholarly, peer reviewed journals. Other sources are books published by other scholars. Where the sources cited are by Tekin, these are merely to add further evidence that he wrote on the topics mentioned in the article.
