I don't claim to know anything about the city or the Choctaw language, but I am told the words are tali and hina (which makes sense if you look at how the name is spelled) and mean rock road. Maybe somebody could check. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.247.122.47 (talk) 21:45, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is the Wikipedia entry for Tallahatta Springs: Tallahatta Springs, once called Lowder Springs, is an unincorporated community in Clarke County, Alabama, United States.[1] It was once known for its mineral springs at the headwaters of Tallahatta Creek. A health resort was established here in the middle of the 19th century.[2] Language scholars believe Tallahatta to be an adaptation of two Choctaw language words: tali (rock) and hata (silver/white), literally "white rock."[3]

It does appear that there are a number of words associated with tali, ranging from rock to many types of metal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.247.122.47 (talk) 21:59, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
