Change Quack!Media to Q+M Advertising?

edit

Quack!Media has since rebranded to Q+M Advertising, however I'm not 100% if we should replace "Quack!Media" with "Q+M" with no mention of their previous alias, or replace it and add a small addendum "(previously known as Quack!Media)". Q+M Advertising doesn't have a dedicated page so it would probably be helpful to either note the old name here or potentially create a page for Q+M. Maxmmyron (talk) 09:23, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Here is a source for that: https://qandm.agency/quackmedia-becomes-qm/ JoshFaceUK (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 15:26, 10 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ross Federman's Educational Background

edit

I just modified the paragraph under Post-Good & Evil that discussed Ross Federman's educational background. One of the bigger issues I found was the claim that Ross' GPA in University (originally called a "science GPA", which I assume was just trying to communicate that the degree was a science degree) was a 4.0. The claim was uncited and I found no sources to corroborate it, so I rephrased the whole section about his university degree to include the specific degree he got, removing the reference to his GPA. I added a citation, his LinkedIn. Due to the details in the contents, I believe it's reasonable to ascribe this LinkedIn as owned by Ross, but if someone disagrees on my understanding of WP:LINKEDIN, feel free to voice your concern. Similarly, if someone can produce a source on the 4.0 GPA, adding it back seems reasonable. Rdelfin (talk) 13:26, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Status of The Band

edit

We are currently in an editing war between saying "Tally Hall IS an American rock band..." and "Tally Hall WAS an American rock band...". The status should be IS because, at the time of writing this, they have not disbanded. They are simply on hiatus. Sure, it's a hiatus since 2011, but they've never announced that they were no longer together nor have they said they would not be making any more music together. Please keep it as IS and not WAS. Thank you. Cozbaldwin (talk) 07:01, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Tally Hall has not disbanded and still meaningfully exists. codl (talk) 10:17, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I would argue this is no longer true, and should be edited to reflect as such. Andrew Horowitz's comments about recent drama seem to indicate the band is no longer together (note the use of "our active days".)[1]https://twitter.com/adhorowi/status/1691592867616022768 50.125.91.138 (talk) 18:39, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

– This page was originally moved (see discussion) from Tally Hall to disambiguate, because Tally Hall (soccer) had about the same amount of page views. However, since around August of 2016, the band's page views have climbed (and recently have shot up), while the soccer players' page has steadily gone down from then. See the toolforge page for just how much more interest the band is getting. It's clear that the band is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. And because there is only WP:ONEOTHER topic, there shouldn't even be a disambiguation page (but keep the hatnote). SWinxy (talk) 21:01, 3 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Note: Tally Hall titles a page with content and so it must also be dispositioned. If this request is granted, then Tally Hall may be moved to Tally Hall (disambiguation) and tagged with {{One other topic}} in accordance with WP:ONEOTHER, or it may be deleted to make way for the first proposed page move. Band name

edit

I don’t know the band, but I suspect the naming story is wrong.

There is a mixed office/retail building in Ann Arbor, near the UM campus, that used to be named Tally Hall. The address is 505 e liberty. It is now known as “liberty square.”

Meanwhile, the shopping plaza that holds Marvin’s marvelous museum is a strip mall. I would be surprised if it had ever been named tally hall - it doesn’t fit. Danpritts (talk) 00:03, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Googling around for "Tally Hall food court farmington hills, MI" will bring up substantial amounts of evidence that it was a real place. Here's one such thread of people reminiscing about it. --Cozbaldwin (talk) 22:00, 9 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
"tally hall" is also the name of this band
two different things can have the same name
looking up "tally hall" by itself on google will show you the band before everything elsle Skeletons are the axiom (talk) 14:30, 2 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Tally Hall was real and it was awesome. The strip mall that's there now isn't representative of what had been there before, all that's left is Marvin's.
Google "Tally Hall Detroit" and you'll have all the proof in the world it existed. 24.214.216.203 (talk) 02:47, 8 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Member Pages

edit

I think Joe, Zubin, Ross, and Bora should have their own pages. (If you need a place to jump off from with looking into these people you can use Hidden in the Sand’s wiki. Shouldn’t be your primary source but it is good to have) 2604:2D80:D21C:8300:8078:EF50:A0A9:1537 (talk) 00:50, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Joe does have an article draft at Draft:Joe Hawley (musician). Unfortunately, it's been rejected twice so far. Ionmars10 (talk) 05:55, 10 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hidden in the Sand's Tally Hallmanac isn't a reliable source because it is user-edited. DizzyTheMan (talk) 15:38, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Rob and Andrew get pages because they've worked on other more notable things (Rob did stuff for Disney and Andrew has produced for a lot of big artists.) The other members have not and have very little notability outside of being in Tally Hall. Extra-acct-1 (talk) 21:59, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fabloo

edit

Shouldn't Tally Hall's genre be listed as 'fabloo' instead of 'rock'? It's what they call themselves and I see no reason why we shouldn't either. JanSowan (talk) 03:46, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@JanSowan To anyone that isn't aware of Tally Hall and their style, calling it fabloo is meaningless. The article fabloo is a redirect to Tally Hall, there's no point of calling it fabloo. Mentioning wonky rock and fabloo in the article is the way to go in my opinion. 37.30.108.122 (talk) 10:34, 9 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Joe Hawley situation

edit

“Recently on the Discord user: 'Cookie Crumbler' or 'thatsamori' has posted a threat about allegations against Joe Hawley. This includes: racism, transphobia, homophobia, grooming and a whole bunch of other stuff. I'm just trying to spread the word and also please do not send hate to Joe Hawley or death theats or anything like that. There's more information in the Discord Server but the allegations may be true since there is quite a bit of evidence. 1 also have a doc link from said user, As well please don't send hate to the victims too.” This was taken from the Tally Hall subreddit 2600:1004:B21F:2107:DE7:41CC:C275:BD90 (talk) 18:53, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Adding Chonny Jash to the page

edit

Chonny Jash is a remixer (Technically coverer but :P) of Tally Hall's music so should we add him to the page? Soulware2 (talk) 16:10, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

His work likely isnt substantial enough to be listed, since the rest is official work. But good idea, maybe his own page? Constantos (talk) 00:03, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
eh 33.2K subs, not sure if he's notable enough Soulware2 (talk) 12:02, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I believe Chonny Jash is notable enough for his own article (around 50k subs, and over 110k monthly listeners on Spotify), but simply as a remixer I do not believe he should be featured in a significant mention on this article. Hyonk Tea (talk) 01:28, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't think 50k subs is enough for someone to have an official wiki page. A page on the youtube wiki sure, but not here. ICommandeth (talk) 18:06, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Even then, its at least 110k people who regularly listen to him (just on Spotify), as well as probably some more people on Youtube who don't use Spotify, people who aren't subscribed, several other platforms entirely and with all that combined it's enough to make me feel like he's pretty notable. new artlices

edit

someone should make a different article(s) for ミラクルミュージカル and/or hawaii part 2, this page doesn't talk about it much and hawaii part 2 had quite a significant impact, at least around as significant as tally hall, not to mention the rest of the big tally hall (non solo) alums have articles and I feel like hawaii part 2 is around their level, plus having link in an article that link back to the article is probably not good Skeletons are the axiom (talk) 14:12, 2 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

There probably should be a Miracle Musical Page, maybe a Hawaii Part II page Celestethetransfem (talk) 19:30, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I was to say this. The project was large enough to be counted I'd say, or maybe an entire page for Tally Hall side and solo projects (such as Miracle Musical, Edu, etc) Constantos (talk) 00:29, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I feel like the other side projects aren't big enough to made up most of a page, I think Miracle Musical/hawaii part 2 should get a page and the others can just say part of the tally hall page Skeletons are the axiom (talk) 21:31, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Mmmm got a page so why cant hawii partii? Tankfarter (talk) 10:14, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Casey Shea

edit

Should Casey be in the past members section? Celestethetransfem (talk) 16:12, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

From what I know, Casey wasn't on any of the actual Tally Hall albums. Constantos (talk) 00:04, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Potential demolition of namesake mechanical musuem

edit

The mechanical museum that the first album is named on has currently been in notice of a potenital demolition, and I think this is important enough to mention on the page or just the album page. Constantos (talk) 00:32, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Latter note, it was added. And it got approved today. Constantos (talk) 23:17, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Bora Karaca and official membership

edit

I've gone back and forth with someone on this, and we should move this to the talk page before this turns into an edit war.

My stance is that Bora is not an official member of the band. A close friend and collaborator? Yep. An extra studio musician on both albums? Indeed. A touring member during their good and evil tour? Absolutely. But nowhere is he listed as an actual official member of the band, and him being jokingly referred to as an "honorary member" does not count. Removal of "Cojum Dip" redirect

edit

As of right now, if you type "Cojum Dip", a completely different band, into the Wikipedia search bar, it shows as a redirect to Tally Hall. I feel this should be removed, as Cojum Dip is a different band with different band members. Gaming gamer 9001 (talk) 18:32, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I personally disagree, as Cojum Dip likely isn’t notable enough to have its own article, however it is still related to Tally Hall. Adding some information about the band to this article could be in order to justify the redirect, though. I would consider having this conversation at redirects for discussion, and linking the discussion here. Kolventra (talk) 00:08, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Miracle Musical

edit

I think Miracle Musical shoud get its own artical as marivs marvilas mechnical mussame & good&evil got there own artical Tankfarter (talk) 05:15, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Should Miracle Musical be replaced with ミラクルミュージカル?

edit

Should we replace Miracle Musical with it's original untranslated name ミラクルミュージカル? AmIAndy (talk) 00:27, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

In most official art its shown as both so it shoud either be as it is (since this is english wikipedia) or be edited to have both Tankfarter (talk) 09:52, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Page for other members

edit

As of writing this, Rob Cantor is the only member of Tally Hall with their own page. I think there should be a page for every mamber including honorary members. AmIAndy (talk) 00:35, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think there originally was a page for Andrew, but it was removed since he was seen as not important enough to have one. Considering Rob has several viral videos under his belt alongside Disney connections, it makes sense why he'd have his own page, but I'm not sure if the others really have that much to warrant their own articles, outside of arguably Joe. Especially for people like Steve and Casey who don't really have much notable outside of Tally Hall. ICommandeth (talk) 03:37, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

"Fabloo" is not a genre

edit

Out the various additions that have been made here, one that people keep trying to add is "fabloo" to the list of genres the band falls under. To put it simply, please stop adding this. This is not a real genre, it's a joke the band members made about their music. I understand that this band has a relatively young fanbase who doesn't really get Wikipedia's standards and just adds anything they think is cool, but don't just go adding stuff like this when it's not something you would add to other pages. ICommandeth (talk) 21:37, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

A "real genre" is whatever people are willing to use as a genre. There are many sillier genres out there. And, fabloo wasn't a joke - it was a serious way to describe their music. They said wonky rock before that in the same context - is that a real genre just because it says rock? Hyonk Tea (talk) 18:37, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
No source ever calls them a "fabloo" band except for the band themselves or when people quote them saying it. For that reason it should not be added unless sources actually use it genuinely. ICommandeth (talk) 18:53, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I know this has been said here before

edit

But I really do think there should be an article for Hawaii Part II, it's easily more notable than Complete Demos, which has a page on Wikipedia FLIPPINGOUT (talk) 23:08, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
