HOW ON EARTH IS MYSPACE A RELIABLE SOURCE

edit

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Tamaryn. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Subject appears to want to remove content

edit

There has been a lengthy edit war over the past day when a user, claiming to be the subject of the article and using at least three accounts, has removed referenced details about their childhood and last name. I have no attachment to the subject but I do object to the removal of referenced material. I leave this as the start of discussion. Ifnord (talk) 22:57, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I added the section about the artist's early life in March after noticing that another user had deleted the section (and the artist's full name) back in September 2019. I reinstated that info and added the quote from the Vice article to give a little extra context to the artist's background. Earlier today, the artist (or someone claiming to be the artist) came to my talk page and said that the quote I added "sounds racist and out of context". Full disclosure, I don't know a whole lot about New Zealand and its social/cultural issues, and I absolutely meant no harm in including the quote. I took the quote, which in the article is directly attributed to the artist Tamaryn, to mean that she was raised with children from all walks of life, including kids who were involved with the groups she mentioned.
I know I'm not the best editor out there, and the quote is kinda clunky, so if other editors wish to delete it, then so be it. That being said, there is totally no reason why the rest of the information in that section cannot remain. Especially the artist's full birth name. NoseyMoose (talk) 00:07, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
