"Xin's Tips"
edit"Xin's Tips" does not belong within this article as it is a resource only to the Tanarus player. It would not make any sense to persons unfamiliar with Tanarus. Suggestion to remove all text of "Xin's Tips" and instead include a link to here: http://forums.station.sony.com/station/posts/list.m?topic_id=11500001139
- Echo412, I wasn't sure if a forum post can be considered a verifiable source. There is another collection of tips, Krelian's Advanced Tips, appended as well. Should I have the author get those added to the forum and link to them as well? Also I'm confused why you are suggesting the changes and not just making them yourself since you have already made other change. Thanks! Kcpdad 22:17, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Tanarusbox.jpg
editImage:Tanarusbox.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Updates
editI updated Gameplay, Tanks, and Weapons/Modules, feel free to add to them (I think I may have missed a few of the Special modules, and Heat/Frag shells need to be expanded). My first edit was anonymous, but whatever.
I think there should also be a section on basic maneuvers such as circling and shield allocation.
Also, please try not to put un-necessary comments such as specific tank configurations, or tendencies to lag in certain tanks.

Article cleanup
editI have reduced the article to a (sourced) stub. Before re-adding any content, please mind the following guidelines:
- Content must be verifiable through independent, third party sources
- A personal write-up of elements you found out through playing the game is original research. Wikipedia is not a publisher of original research
- Wikipedia is not a game guide. A detailed list of ranks, moves, items, tanks, arenas could possibly belong on a different wiki, eg. wikia, but not on Wikipedia. We are looking at an encyclopedic coverage on Tanarus. This includes a high level description of the game, its release and development history or how it was received by the public, not a user's manual or something that would typically be hosted on gamefaqs.com
- Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Grievances of individual players can only be included if they have been covered by third party reliable sources. MLauba (Talk) 14:37, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- I have reverted this change, which restored the prior inappropriate contents and also duplicated the lead. This article is not meant to be a resource for gamers, but rather to provide an objective overview of the game that would be of interest to a general audience. There are plenty of other resources at which indepth game information could be supplied, including Wikia Gaming, which did not even have a page on this game, but does now: [1]. Wikia is specifically engineered for gamers and hence may permit more indepth information about gameplay. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:50, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
BZflag
edit
- BZFlag is an open-source equivalent of Tanarus. Yura87 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 11:28, 26 March 2011 (UTC).
- I disagree the game play is nothing like Tanarus. In BZFlag tanks jump, there are only two teams, BZFlag uses a one shot kill system, there is no up and down aiming, and the tanks were not configurable. The only thing that is relevant to Tanarus is that they are both tank games and have similar graphics, if BZFlag is ever moved to the main article shouldn't all tank games that have these same properties be listed too? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.125.120.194 (talk) 00:22, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
The passionate community lives on
editouch. I've got it reverted two versions back (months) immediately! I have added this:
==Legacy==
Passionate players united together after the shutdown to create freeware replacement games: 60tons and Treads (December 2011 videos: [2]).
60tons
edit
"60tons" as of October 2012 "is a working prototype that you can immediately play. Most of the gameplay is already there. I've had as many as 9 people playing at once."[3] and its main site is at [4].

- It wasn't really your edit I reverted, it was the IP before you. That being said, for the above to be included, it would have to be supported by what qualifies as independent third-party reliable sources discussing the phenomenon, not blogs or youtube videos.
