Can someone...

Can someone research and fillout a page that defines and discusses the value of this financial measurement?

Since we are in the midst of a Global Depression, this information will be useful to all people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ddspell (talkcontribs) 19:26, 23 February 2009

Subtracted goodwill

edit

I subtracted the word "goodwill" from the equation. Goodwill is a form of intangible assets, and it is therefore redundant to subtract both intangibles and goodwill (and can lead to miscalculations...). Page 86 of the FFIEC's instructions to banks on completing their quarterly call reports includes goodwill under intangible assets: http://www.ffiec.gov/PDF/FFIEC_forms/FFIEC031_041_200812_i.pdf. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Glaugh (talkcontribs) 23:01, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

added equation for calculating TCE

edit

True, but in the 10K or 8K, goodwill and intangible assets are listed as different items (e.g. in Citigroup MRQ 8K, the Goodwill is 3x the value of intangible assets, so goodwill not included in intangible assets?). So, to do the calculation, you have to subtract out both items separately as listed in the balance sheet. OTOH, on some website listings, their listing of the financial statement has "intangibles" as a combo of both. Not 100% about the TCE ratio equation, if you subtract out intangibles or not from total assets. Jerry guru (talk) 02:12, 5 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tangible Common EquityTangible common equity

Per WP:CAPS ("Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization") and WP:TITLE, this is a generic, common term, not a propriety or commercial term, so the article title should be downcased. Lowercase will match the formatting of related article titles. Tony (talk) 13:56, 16 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
