what is the government legislation regarding to tangihanga pre-1840? I cannot find this on any of the govt pages etc. CAn you help me please I am doing tikanga marae and this is one of the subjects. Thank you

Too late to be of much use, but New Zealand did not have a parliament capable of passing legislation until 1854, and I doubt if the British Parliament passed legislation specific to Tangihanga prior to that. dramatic (talk) 21:57, 10 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Clarify close kin speaking

Please clarify "The close kin may not speak". Is it "The close kin are not permitted to speak" or "The close kin might not speak"? Jesselong (talk) 18:53, 26 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
