Can Someone please add an image for this instrument --Swati Mridu 08:08, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Dear Sir/Madam,
Daul and Tapan are absolutely the same musical instrument.
It exists in the ethnic Bulgarian and Turkish music. It is very popular in the Bulgarian chain dancing.
I am a native Bulgarian from Trakia and we refer to this instrument as daul or tapan depending on how it slips from the mouth. It is usually used with instruments like bag-pipe or kaval (kaval has some similarity with zurla but zurla is a turkish instrument, kaval is bulgarian). Very powerful motives of the military music from the ottoman times with tapan can still be heard on wrestling competitions. One soundtrack of a Quentin Tarantino’s production uses such music so it has found its way to Hollywood. (not signed)
I plan to combine tapan and davul back together, and I will provide clear distinctions for cultural differences (names, instruments played with, etc). Tapan will redirect here, as will tabl. Swellbow 05:17, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
