'tapers' being used for lighting purposes

Hmm. I came to this article having just read about 'tapers' being used for lighting purposes and wondering what they were, and instead I find something on the thickness of cymbals. I would have thought that 'taper' is, by definition, something that thins out, so I would not exclusively donate this article to cymbal-making. Tapers for lighting sound very interesting and like they have nothing to do with the common definition at all, for instance. Tapering in semiconductors

Tapering is a word used in a lot of Semiconductor research papers. I couldn' find this meaning in the disambiguation page. --129.13.186.1 (talk) 11:15, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Looks like tapering, in this context, means etching taper shaped holes (or wells) into the semiconductor (e.g. silicon substrate) --129.13.186.1 (talk) 11:56, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
