MORE DETAIL
editSo these are just taxi operator permits? Someone needs to say where these things come from (presumably the government) and how much they originally cost. If they're worth a million dollars, does the government charge anywhere near that? If not, why not? And why doesn't the government sell lots more if they're worth that much?
Sounds like the mafia has its hand in this. Or the republicans. Same thing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Verdana Bold (talk • contribs) 21:59, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
Global, not just US
editWhy is this only about US? Taxi medallions are used and required in other markets eg Australia and Hong Kong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.239.87.179 (talk) 08:56, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- @182.239.87.179
- Same here in Spain: each municipality uses the "medallion" or limited amount system.
- And it has created plenty of discussion about the free market, ride sharing, and capitalism. SalvaStalker (talk) 13:16, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
