I was born Chadley Blake Thompson. No one ever called me Chadley, so....Chad.
In my teens I was in a band with another "Thompson", unrelated, so I dropped my last name to avoid confusion.
The "T" comes from my first trip to Africa in 1977. Everyone there spelled my name "Tchad" as that's how they spelled the name of the country which was a French colony.

To the uninformed masses, I think Blake's best known for being the remix artist of the version of Phantom Planet's "California" that was used as the intro to The OC. In recognition of that, perhaps "California" bears individual mention.
