Updates to TechnologyOne page

Hello, my name is Lisa and I work in PR representing TechnologyOne. I'm reaching out to editors with a small number of proposed edits for the page. With minimal edits being made to this page over the past few years, the edits proposed seek to provide a more accurate summary of the company. I have also made a separate request for content under the 'new section' talk page, however these edits to existing content as largely to update company financials and operations.

If you have time to review the suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. --User: TechnologyOneLtd (talk)

In the breakout box / summary of the company, we propose to edit financial numbers.

Under the history section, we propose replacing two sentences which reference out of date 2017 full year results numbers with the most recent 2018 full year results numbers:

At the company’s full year results on 20 November 2019, the company announced that it had reached $300 million of annual revenues as a result of the growth of its cloud business. [3] TechnologyOne currently has approximately 1,200 customers [4], and invested $54 million in Research & Investment fully expensed in the financial year ending September 2018. [5]

  1.  N The CEO was not added because it was not referenced.
  2.  Y The infobox financials were updated.
  3.  N The main prose financials were not updated because they seek to remove older information in favor of newer information. Both figures should be retained.

New Content for TechnologyOne page

Hello, my name is Lisa and I work in PR representing TechnologyOne. I'm reaching out to editors with proposed new content for the page, which is proposed to sit between the existing ‘history’ and ‘acquisition’ sections. In making these changes, I have been very mindful of Wikipedia’s guidelines around conflicted content, with the additions of content and proposed sections seeking to replicate the type of content – and headings - which appear on the pages of our technology peers. Similar to these other pages, our proposed suggestions are intended to be factual edits to reflect the core operational functions of the business for any technology company: our business model, software and markets.

With minimal edits being page to this page over the past few years, the edits proposed seek to provide a more accurate and up-to-date summary of the company.

If you have time to review the suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. --User: TechnologyOneLtd (talk)

  • Business Model

TechnologyOne is one of the largest enterprise software providers in Australia and New Zealand, with a global presence in the United Kingdom. Its products are used by more than 1,200 corporations, government departments and statutory authorities. [1] Since 2012, the company has spent more than $200 million to transition the business from being an on-premise software provider to a software-as-service business. [2]

  • Software as a Service

The first iteration of TechnologyOne’s cloud software was launched in 2014, which enabled users to access the platform via the cloud. [3] The Ci Anywhere platform enables users to access TechnologyOne’s software on any device, at any time. [4]

In 2018, more than 30 per cent of TechnologyOne customers were using the company’s SaaS platform. [5] Increasingly, TechnologyOne’s revenue and earnings are coming from its SaaS business as customers switch its system to the cloud. [6]

At its most recent company update in 2019, the company announced that it had 389 customers using its SaaS platform, with a projection that more than 1000 customers would be using SaaS by 2022. [7] The company’s total SaaS annual contract value announced at its half year financial results in 2019 was $85.8 million and was growing at 45% per annum. [8].

In 2017, Executive Chairman Adrian Di Marco announced that the company had started to invest in artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to build its next generation software. [9] The company first unveiled details of the Digital Experience Platform (or DXP) in 2019, announcing that it will feature 14 mobile applications for its launch. [10]

While the company’s previous products have been designed to service the backoffice users in major organisations such as higher education institutions and governments, DXP represents a change in that the applications are being designed for the end consumer to use. [11]

The company releases two major software updates each year, with its most recent update, 2019A, including 216 new features and enhancements. [12]

  • Markets

TechnologyOne provides enterprise software to key markets in Local Government, Education, Government, Health and Community Services, Asset & Project Intensive Industries, and Financial Services. [13]

Local Government represents TechnologyOne’s largest market, with more than half of Australian councils using the company’s software. [14] This represents more than 300 local councils in Australia. [15]

TechnologyOne closed 11 major local council deals in 2018/19 totalling $80 million in contract revenue in 2018/19, which included new contracts with Cairns Regional Council, City of Onkaparinga, City of Wollongong, City of South Perth, City of Armadale, Whitsunday Regional Council and the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale; as well as Whangarei in New Zealand. [16]

Higher Education is its second largest market, with TechnologyOne signing a number of significant deals in 2019 with Curtain University, Macquarie University and South Australia’s Flinders University. [17]

TechnologyOne operates in the UK with more than 44 customers at September 2018, including 14 universities, 13 local governments, 10 health and community service providers, and a handful of finance-related organisations. [18]

  • Research and development

Since being founded in 1987, TechnologyOne has invested $500 million into R&D. [19] In the financial year ending September 2018, TechnologyOne invested $54 million fully expensed in Research and Development, spending 22 per cent of its revenue on R&D. [20]

TechnologyOne has one of the largest R&D centres in Australia, employing more than 315 developers. [21]

  • Philanthropy

In 2016, TechnologyOne established the TechnologyOne Foundation for its philanthropic endeavours, and signed up to the Pledge 1% movement. [22]

In 2017, the TechnologyOne Foundation announced an annual grant to Opportunity International Australia, which looks to microfinance 500,000 children out of poverty over the next 15 years. [23]

The TechnologyOne Foundation has many partnerships, including with Opportunity International Australia, The Fred Hollows Foundation, The Salvation Army and Solar Buddy. [24]

Request edit

Hello, my name is Lisa and I work in PR representing TechnologyOne. I'm reaching out to editors with further edits for this page. These edits respond to the previous rejection (from 16 July) in the following ways: 1. For the CEO, there is no page from Edward Chung and therefore no way to reference. 2. We have kept previous financial information, and instead added new information as per the requests. I hope these edits suitably address prior concerns. If you have time to review the suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

In the breakout box / summary of the company, we propose to add the name of the CEO: |CEO=Edward Chung

Under the TechnologyOne introduction section, we propose changing the first sentence to: TechnologyOne Limited is Australia’s largest enterprise software as a service company. [1]

Under the history section, we propose adding a new sentence to include the most recent 2018 financial results (to put in addition to the now out of date 2017 full year results numbers): As a result of the growth of its cloud business, the company announced that it had reached $300 million of annual revenues at its full year results on November 20, 2018. [2] TechnologyOne currently has approximately 1,200 customers [3], and invested $54 million in Research & Investment fully expensed in the financial year ending September 2018. [4]

  1.  Y The CEO was added to the infobox (although this was unreferenced).
  2.  N "Largest enterprise software as a service company" was not added, as it is unclear what is meant by largest.
  3.  Y The financials were added.
