The result of the move request was: page moved to (footballer) qualifier, dab created. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:53, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Ted Ellis → Ted Ellis (athlete) –
- so as to create a disambiguation page for all people with this name. Librarivm37 (talk) 01:42, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
- First, I disagree that a disambiguation page is necessary; there is only one other notable person of this name, Ted Ellis (artist). Secondly, even if moved, "athlete" should not be used as the disambiguator, "footballer" should be. Jenks24 (talk) 03:55, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'd probably lean towards the artist being the primary topic, but maybe that's recentism and US-centricism. Googling finds a writer/broadcaster and a mayor of the same name, so a dab page taking over Ted Ellis and the footballer moving to Ted Ellis (footballer) is probably the best outcome. The-Pope (talk) 08:39, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
- Conditional support - There is already an appropriate dab page called Edward Ellis which is really what these two Ted Ellis's are really called. That dab page lists several other people with similar names including an actor, a bishop, a journalist, an author, a politician, and an American footballer. So let's move this article and have "Ted Ellis" point to the existing dab page instead, but we need a better title than just adding "athlete" or "footballer" since there is an American football player too. 90.200.179.217 (talk) 23:30, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
