Extra info

edit

I am not sure where to look to find an explanation of why a lengthy, well-written article about an annual event that has an entry in a print encyclopedia called "The Encylopedia of Saskatchewan" and which has been recognized by the Guinness World of Records as the most successful telethon per capita for any region on earth would be redirected to a brief write-up that is part of the entry for the larger national organization (Kin_Canada])? So I have reverted back to the original Telemiracle article for the time being.

I agree with you. It was a comprehensive, well-written, and referenced article. User:^demon took it upon himself to speedy delete all Kin Canada related articles, which I contend was way out of process as they were clearly not CSD candidates. Fortunately, the Wikipedia process took over and it was discussed at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Harold_A._Rogers. Another user felt that the articles could be contained within Kin Canada, hence the redirect. As I was still angered by the event, I decided to not edit these articles for a time so I could see them in a more NPOV but, as I said, I concur with your decision to revert to a full article here. Debut Year

edit

If 2008 is the 32nd year for Telemiracle and the article says it started in 1977, than wouldn't 2008 be the 31st year. So than 1975 would have been the year Telemiracle first started. Or so it would seem. Mr. C.C. (talk) 05:49, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your thinking 2008 - 1977 = 31, this would be true it 1977 was the zeroth year but it was the first year so add one to get 32, also if it helps if it started in 2007 this would be the second year already, not the first, hope this helps some Redekopmark (talk) 06:16, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

There are two links that are dead links. The one for the first total and the one from NewsTalk 980. The NewsTalk 980 link isn't dead perse, but it leads the homepage of NewsTalk 980. Mr. C.C. (talk) 06:57, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Annual Totals

edit

Are we just putting the end totals that are on TV? Or are we putting the end totals with all received donations? Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 23:02, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

It seems as though all donations are accounted for just not received. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 01:28, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Last of a dying breed?

edit

With the Labor Day fund-raiser for muscular dystrophy no longer a telethon and other telethons having gone by the wayside, would it be fair to characterize Telemiracle as one of the last long-form telethons still in production? There are still TV fund-raisers, and they're often labelled as telethons, but other than Telemiracle I do not know of any other 20-hour productions still extant. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 19:03, 5 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
