Javascript and ads injection

edit

In November 2013, at least, via its Telkom Speedy internet services, the company has been injected javascript code and ads into pages browsed by its subscribers. Telkom Speedy has nearly 3 million subscribers in 2013 and targetting 20 million subscribers at 2015.

The javascript code, injected just before the closing HTML tag, sends information to an advertising website u-ad.info, a website owned by the company.

Ads are injected into popular sites such as google.com, youtube.com, detik.com, kaskus.co.id, etc. occassionaly but quite frequent. Generally injected ads are fix-positioned at the top of the page and in some occassions makes it impossible to click on the websites own menu. At least two injected ads have been detected, a Telkom Speedy ad and an ad pointing to www.useetv.com, another website owned by the company.

Conversation via Twitter @TelkomSpeedy are directed to the websites. Complained sent to the company via its website, including u-ad.info, as of this writing, are not responded.

This is action can be categorized as an abuse of content since the company has never asked for permission to do this either from the website owners or its subscribers. It is also not clear whether such action is prohibited by Indonesian law. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.252.158.178 (talk) 18:09, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

The adverts are injected into all sites, not just popular ones such as google.
