Removed food and drink category. This is a structure/landmark and the café is peripheral. Happypup398 (talk) 04:10, 12 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Telstra Tower as a white elephant

edit

I was taught in school (I am a Canberra resident) that the Telstra Tower is a white elephant, and its prime purpose now is tourism. When it was built, it was to be based primely on microwave technology, which is now almost obselete (given way to satellite technology), and thus is a waste of corporate and taxpayer money. Anyone else have further information? -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs 02:03, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It still has plenty of TV and radio stations and heaps of microwave dishes and other antennas. Microwave terrestrial links have been replaced by optical fibre. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:31, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Does anyone know the opening hours and costs to access Telstra Tower? I think this would be useful, as there doesn't seem to be any authoritative page on the Internet about it. Tim 23:18, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Added opening hours and assessed article at C-class. A few more references and a clean up of the writing structure/flow would be good. This is a high importance article in WikiProject Canberra for such a prominent Canberra landmark. Happypup398 (talk) 04:10, 12 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
