My best guess is that it was supposed to be the Westpark-type extension into downtown, but they instead completely rebuilt the US 59 section parallel to it in the late 90s and 2000s. The land that the rail line was on inside 610 remains bare, but is extremely bottled in. 25or6to4 (talk) 20:09, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I hadn't realized that MoPac (then UP-owned) bought the Katy Railroad in 1988-89, so that could be the one if TxDOT looked at the direct owner rather than the system (MoPac didn't actually merge with UP until 1997).
