Diacritic in IPA pronunciation
editI have just been through the entire International_Phonetic_Alphabet article and still cannot figure out what the angular diacritic above the double t in [tʰálat̚ta] means.
Can anyone enlighten me? -- 03:27, 22 October 2013 GeorgeTSLC
- Probably indicates that the preceding segment is unreleased. Since it doesn't appear at Help:IPA for Greek, it shouldn't be used on this article... AnonMoos (talk) 04:40, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
- P.S. Found my copy of the Journal of the International Phonetic Association (vol 23, no 1) with the official chart of the IPA as of 1993, and the meaning of the diacritic is defined as "no audible release". AnonMoos (talk) 01:22, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
