Thandkoi is a historical village of Swabi District of Pukhtoonkhwa formerly called N.W.F.P Province of Pakistan. The population is about 30, 000. Thandkoi is situated on the main Jehangira-Topi road. A small village Dodher is located on its south, to the North of Thandkoi is Bamkhel, east Marghuz and to the West is Kaddi and Zaida.The village has its own Union Council, bank (National Bank), one Hospital, dozen of Schools and Post Office. Mandanr Yousafzai, one of the main clans of Pathan/Pukhtoon/Pushtun are settled here. Yousafzai originate from Yousaf who was the younger son of Manday Khan. Yousaf's elder brother was Umar, who died young and left behind his only son named Mandanr. Mandanr later married to Yousaf's daughter.But for simplicity they are called Yousafzai instead of Mandanr Yousafzi. In Thandkoi They are further subdivided into a number of groups called KHEL locally. The significant among them are Hasan khel,(Malyar jana khel) Norang Khel, Barakhan khel,MUSA KHEL, Baba khel, chajo khel, Bara khel, Adi khel,Dadu khel and Dalazaq. Mulayan, now mixed with several Khels, by living in the communities of different Khels and marrying in them, is also one of the modern social identity living in the village. There are some other minorities living in the village. Among them are , Dhobyan, Shahakhelyan, Duman, Nayan,Chumyaran, Julagan etc.Yousafzai came from Afghanistan in 1450 century in the times of Mughal king Jalaluddin Muhammad Babar and started fighting with the local residents. They faught and defeated the Tanolis: one of the local tribes living in the area since long, at Topi which is a town of District Swabi. Since then they are living in the area. The soil of the Thandkoi is fertile so many of the villagers are associated with forming. Tobacco is a cash crop of village along with wheat, vegetables, sugar cane, maize and rice. Some fruits like watermelon, peaches and apricots are also grown here. Thandkoi is a very beautiful village and it is home to the Abaseen (The Indus river). People are very hospitable and friendly. Villagers are very interested in healthy activities and games.Thandkoi is also famous for its colourful traditional games:Kabaddi, Makha, Cock and dog Fighting, Gulli dandai and Kite flying are some of the activities villagers like the most. Besides the games and fun the villagers are also good in education. Thand Koi has more than 10 schools which is one of the highest for any village of its size in the whole of country. There are a number of Doctors and Engineers serving the country at different positions. People are also very religious, islam-loving but peaceful. There are several Deeni Madrassa (religious Schools) teaching quality islamic education. Thandkoi is also famous for its great number of Huffaz(one who has memorised the Holly Quran). The village is also visited by people from far and near to buy its dlicious Jalabi. Muhammad Ali Babakhel, a Central Superior Service officier, also belongs to this village. Haji Adam khan (Late) served as a village Nazim and Haji Zar Khan (Late) as a farmer counselor, supported by Bahadar sher (Late) and Amir sher (Late) in the election, also belong to the respectable family Babakhel. Malik Saleh Muhammad (Late) director archeology KP and Doctor Malik Riaz Medical Superintendent also belongs to this family.
