Ideology of Centrist Alliance, Democratic Convention

edit

Actually, the other way round should be alright. CA is a continuation of Rally the Centrists, the faction of UDF that stood between MoDem and Nouveau Centre - both centrist. And the DC is the continuation of PPFD/Perspectives and Realities Club - the classical and economically liberal faction of UDF. No sources though.

My apologies for Centrist Alliance: I was confusing it with Civic Alliance for Democracy in Europe. Sorry! Isn't it OK to include Christian democracy among the ideologies of ARES as it is part of New Centre's ideology? Your knowledge of French politics is far better than mine, so I will agree with whatever you do and I will be grateful to you if you edit all the articles about French parties and factions (most of which need to be expanded, rewritten, sourced or updated). Regarding your merger proposal on PPDF/CD, I would leave the two articles (what fr.Wiki does is relevant for us, but not mandatory: we should have three different articles on CPR, PPDF and CD; I think that readers would find easier to understand the three phases of the Giscardiens this way). --Checco (talk) 11:10, 2 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
No problem! Those many parties and factions are really confusing! I would advise against labelling ARES as a whole as Christian democratic. I believe, it is only a minor faction of New Center that is Christian democratic. The leader, Hervé Morin, at least, is a former Republican and not a former Christian democrat. I already had the thought, it could even be "original research" - like: "UDF had a major Christian democratic faction, NC is one of the successors, so it has to be Christian democratic, too." I have not found a source proving Christian democracy in NC, yet. Moreover, we have to remember that Borloo's Radicals are still decidedly laicist - quite the opposite of Christian democracy. So I suggest to wait and observe in what direction ARES will develop. OK? Regards -- RJFF (talk) 18:03, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I agree and thank you for your kind remarks in my talk page. See you, --Checco (talk) 22:07, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
