Two Asian-American Teams

To be politcally correct, there are two Asian-American teams in the Amazing race. I made this change to reflect this but that change was reverted for some reason. By definition in the USA, Asian-Americans include Indian-Americans. So, mentionioning that there is only one Asian-American team is incorrect and does not refect a neutral point of view.

Tar 11-25

Hi, I heard a rumor, on some fansite that some random guy I only know from a forum's brother's aunt's mother works as phil's makeup artist and that CBS made her sign a contract that binds her to the show for the next 15 seasons (11-25)!!! this must mean that they are renewing the show for the next 15 seasons. no, that same poster's brother's aunt's other mother (don't ask) just told me that CBS also locked in TaR for 15 more seasons too!! and they are going to do 15 Family Editions YAY! Plus, they are all going to have at least one of the Weavers, the Paolos, and the Gaghan family

In reality, i'm just mocking the fact that we even have an amazing race 10 article already... The rumor above probably isn't true for the following reasons:

a. Why would CBS assume that people are going to continue watching The Amazing Race for fifteen more seasons? I'm sure they've taken note of the mistakes made by networks like NBC, who are now being forced to show the final half of the sixth season of Fear Factor despite the fact that almost nobody is watching it, and they're shrewd enough not to take on too much at one time.

b. If CBS was planning on creating fifteen more seasons, why would they all be Family Editions? They seem to be doing well enough with the regular format. (Actually, I might be wrong, but I would think TAR 8 would have gotten lower ratings than the other seasons, because they didn't actually leave the Northwestern Hemisphere, and one of the main draws of the show is the exotic places it visits.)

c. You heard it from "some random guy"; there's a very good chance he's lying.

Kuwait?

I find it strange that there was a siting in Kuwait.I know teams have been to South Korea (where one team almost went to the North Korea border), but I don't think the would go to a place so close to Iraq, which is right in the middle of a way. I found it a bit of a shock myself, considering that Kuwait´s nestled between three Arabic countries that are not necessarily happy go lucky with USA. It would be questionable if it was just a random forum posting (like an unverifiable Seattle sighting posted awhile ago on TARflies) but you can´t deny photos.

As long as they don't go into or fly over Iraq at low altitude, they should be fairly safe. Kuwait's a fairly modern, clean and safe country, and almost no terrorist activity has happened since the 2003 invasion. Maybe the Amazing Race is just trying to make it as exciting as possible by going as close to Iraq without actually going in there. I'm sure they've done their risk analysis and decided that it'll be ok. Note that 2/3 of Kuwait's population is expatriate. If it was really unsafe, most of them would probably be gone by now. 01:06, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

TAR10 spotted at SEATAC May 27 - headed to Beijing

I rode on United's flight between Seattle and Tokyo with many of TAR10 teams Saturday May 27. The airport boarding area was 'buzzing' with couples dressed alike who were followed by camera crews. Each couple wore matching numbered tags on their backpacks and were dressed alike. The pair next to me (Team #1) pointed out the window at another plane, not yet departing, and kept asking the flight crew about our on-time departure and arrival status. They also inquired about Chinese currency exchange rates for their next destination in Beijing. I received the response, "we are filming a travel show," when I asked what was going on.

Teams were allowed priveliged secret early boarding, to allow camera crews to get more footage on the plane and to stow equipment. At least four teams were counted on the flight, possibly more. Everyone must have had a late night. The camera crew immediately in front of Team #1 passed out like professional airplane sleepers. Team #1 also snoozed soon after departing.

I recognize the two blonds in Blogger K The Kuwaiti's pictures but no sight of Team #1.

Wow! This is amazing. You are your own source (if you get what I mean). If they told me that "we're filming a travel show" stuff, I would have said, "Okay, I know your doing the Amazing Race," and asked a million and one questions. (I guess they may have told you this because the secrecy contract also exists during the taping of the show.) They're travelling westwards from the US?? If what you spotted wasn't a decoy and you're the real deal, then this will be the first time that the Amazing Race has gone westwards across the world, and the first time so many teams will be in Asia. Usually by the time the Amazing Race gets to East Asia, only around four teams are left. 01:13, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Bruce from Survivor

Just pure speculation on my part but: I have seen on the Amazing Race board on Survivor Sucks that someone saw the racers competing in a Roadblock (the video is in this discussion's article). They either said one person or one team was Asian. On Bruce's (from Survivor:Panama Wikipedia page, it says he would like to be on the Amazing Race. Since he was forced to quit Surivor, does anyone else think they would give Bruce another chnace on TAR?TeckWiz^TalkContribs_Guestbook 18:28, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

seattlepi article

There's something odd with that first-listed article - the text claims 13 teams, yet there's obvously only 12 in the big photo (and they only give 12 pairs of names). Later on they mention '26 people'. Did the writer miscount, or is there some kind of 'phantom team' along? Is the Early Show tagging along again like the Iceland leg a few years back? Hmmmm... Dates?

Does anyone know or can anyone find out the exact date that TAR10 is going to begin? We have the season (Fall), day of the week (Sat.), and time (8/7c), but we don't have the date, and that's a vital part of the article, especially as the show hasn't begun yet and people will want to find out when it will. You can probably get it from CBS. (their website, that is.) -- Ellie

China

The reason why I changed the China/People's Republic of China was because that's the way it is in all the other articles (The Amazing Race 1 for example.) The only exception was in The Amazing Race 2 article, in which Hong Kong was visited and Peoples Republic of China was used to avoid confusion. Anchorage 16:29, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Who Did What Task

Someone brought up on the TAR 9 talk page a way to show who did what task. I said maybe make small tables like:

Detour
Team	Bike	Bungy
Bob & Matt	*	x
Dave & Sam	x

• An "x" is the task the team completed
• An asterisk means the team switched to the other task

Roadblock
Team	Performer

Dave & Sam	Dave

The article should be a basic sypnosis of each leg; there's no need to illustrate each action that was performed by the teams. See WP:NOT#Wikipedia_is_not_an_indiscriminate_collection_of_information. --Madchester 00:57, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

We have who yielded who and who won the Fast Forward in the table. What if each leg, when the choices of the Detour are mentioned in the synopsis, one is in one color, and the other is in another color. Then, on the results table, under that team and leg, whatever Detour they chose, their placing would be that color. And whatever the last place team does, the colors will be split, like Dennis and Andrew's placing. Also, I wouldn't consider this every action. Even when it is presented in a table, those items are nothing more than a list. WP:NOT stresses that we shouldn't be placing too much emphasis on lists, especially on loosely related topics.

The Yield and FF are included, since they occur at a low frequency on the Race, with only 3 or 4 total instances in a season. Listing the full participation details of who participated in what RB or Detour is rather excessive and violates WP:NOT as mentioned above. --Madchester 04:35, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

That page has already gone through 2 AFDs, both resulting in a "no consensus" outcome. Personally I don't work on the page because I still think its too fancrufty or FAQ-like, both characteristics that should be avoided per WP:NOT. I had already removed the "Amazing Race Curse" list for various violations of WP:NOT and WP:OR. --Madchester 14:15, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
