American Review: A Whig Journal
editAfter doing all that work expanding the section under "19th century," I'm thinking it's a better idea to create a new article: American Review: A Whig Journal. It seems odd having one article discussing three different magazines just because they have similar names anyway. Midnightdreary 18:50, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Feel free to split that section off into an new article at American Review: A Whig Journal or whatever the best title might be, with a link and short sentence summary here. I don't think it's inherently wrong to have multiple things of the same name in one article if we only have a stub of information on each, though it would be better if we could eventually have seperate articles on each publication and turn this into a disambiguation page. -- Infrogmation 19:03, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. I've gotten started on the American Review: A Whig Journal page, and removed the info that was on here (well, I left a small summary with a link to the new main article). Midnightdreary 20:47, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Incongruous Jump
editThe external link jumps one to an "American Review" which has nothing to do with any of the "American Reviews" discussed in the article. It should be deleted. LAWinans (talk) 19:00, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
disambiguation?
editI suggest creating a disambiguation page and for each journal to have its own page.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:32, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Breaking up into multiple articles
editThe article as it appears right now is about multiple distinct subjects which share only a name. That means it's effectively a disambiguation page, but with the article content for each included. Articles on Wikipedia that aren't disambiguations only cover a single subject, and as it's an encyclopedia and not a work of lexicography those subjects are concepts/ideas/things rather than words or terms.
That said, I'm going to break the article up into multiple articles and reformat this as a proper disambig page.
There is already a separate article for The American Review: A Whig Journal. This page will redirect to American Review, which will be the disambiguation page. We can create The American Review (literary journal) for the Collins publication. American Review (literary journal) for what was formerly New American Review. And American Review (political journal) for the Australian publication, though I'm less confident that one is notable enough for an article.
