A few things. First, what is "the Nieuwendijk in Amsterdam"? A textiles store, as previously stated? If so, add that, or just remove the reference to "Nieuwendijk" as it has no meaning to the reader. Second, was it a burglary (breaking and entering, usually trying to avoid violence) and he was caught in the act, or a robbery (entering, not breaking, and taking by violence or coercion)?
