Wikipedia does not allow unverified claims
editOne of the core policies of Wikipedia is that all claims must be verified, and this is particularly acute when it involves personal details of living people. We absolutely cannot make claims of people's last names without reliable-source citations, as I've added for Tim McCormack. Uncited details of living persons may be removed immediately. The cited source at the head of the last, ABC's The Bachelorette bios does not give last names.
What editors have done for other reality-show contestants is find local newspaper articles, reliable-source reality-TV sites (not personal blogs, which are disallowed under WP:SPS), and in some cases the personal web pages of contestants. Information is citable. Uncited personal claims are not allowed. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:27, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- I have been searching for last-name verification, and from what I'm finding I need to note right off that Wetpaint.com uses consumer-generated content as well as in-house and does no differentiate between the two. This makes it essentially a forum, which, like ComicBookMovie.com, is disallowed as a non-reliable source. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:31, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

editI'm not the least bit sure that the National Enquirer meets the standard required for WP:RS. If anything, the National Enquirer is a prime example of an unreliable source. Deterence Talk 13:27, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
