Mistaken hyperlink
editIn the "Incident" section of this page regarding "Battle of Palmdale", there is a reference to one of the pilots involved, a 1st LT Hans Einstein and the hyperlink takes the viewer to the Wikipedia page of a vastly different "Hans Einstein." Recommend the hyperlink in the "Battle of Palmdale" page be deactivated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.79.254.10 (talk) 16:58, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
- Not sure who added the link, but it's fixed now, Thanks Samf4u (talk) 02:48, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
contemporary refs
editOf all the references cited in this article, only one is from the time of the incident, and it is used only once, for a statement about the fires caused. Were there no other 1956 sources? Did the Air Force hush the incident up? If so, this should be noted in the article. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 19:16, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
- While researching this article I found no other references from 1956 and no evidence of a cover up. Samf4u (talk) 17:20, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
Outcome
editThe article ends with the drone crashing and the rockets causing wildfires. Did the incident result in any repercussions for the pilots or the Air Force? In particular the failure to shoot down a slow-moving drone must have been embarrassing. Did the Air Force consider re-equipping the F-89 with cannon? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 19:43, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- I'm sure the incident was an embarrassment for the Air Force and I imaging some changes were made but during all the research for this article I never read anything concerning these points. Samf4u (talk) 11:44, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Article Name
editShouldn't this article be renamed to "Palmdale incident", as, according to Wikipedia, a battle is a "a combat in warfare between two or more armed forces, or combatants" and this incident is obviously not a combat in warfare? L293D (talk | contributions) 02:12, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- Per this source, "Battle of Palmdale" appears to be the Common Name for the incident. - BilCat (talk) 11:56, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- I see. I researched a bit more and it effectively appears that it was called "Battle of Palmdale" rather than "Palmdale incident". L293D (talk | contributions) 14:41, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
