Colourful Results table
editThis is a suggestion for the Results table to make it easier to see at a glance the winners of each event. Jono Watkins (talk) 14:23, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Northumbrian University Boat Race → The Boat Race of the North – As Northumbrian Water is no longer sponsoring the event, it is now known as the Boat Race of the North. This is the name used by both competing universities ("The Boat Race of the North". Newcastle University Boat Club. Retrieved 2 March 2016.; "The Boat Race of the North". Durham University Boat Club. Retrieved 2 March 2016.) and in the news media.(e.g. "Boat Race of the North returns after five-year absence". BBC News. Retrieved 2 March 2016.; "A guide to today's Boat Race of the North". The Tab. Retrieved 2 March 2016.; "The Boat Race of the North returning to Newcastle after a five-year absence". ChronicleLive. Retrieved 2 March 2016.) There appears to be no set precedent for use of the definite article for similar events (e.g. The Boat Race and The Welsh Boat Race, but Scottish Boat Race and Bristol Boat Race), I thus propose following the usage of the two universities concerned and including it. Numbering
editWe seem to increment the race number every year up to 2010, including years when the event was cancelled; but from 2011 onwards only number when a race actually took place. Any views on which is correct? (Or we could just drop that column.)
Also, any better sources on what actually happened in 2011-12 would be very valuable - our current single source is fairly openly biased, as well as being written four years after the fact. (Not to say it might not well be totally accurate, but it would be good to have a source that was more neutral or closer to the reported event.) TSP (talk) 22:29, 12 March 2023 (UTC)
