Masthead or other image

edit

Could someone please put the Observer masthead and/or a picture of the headquarters on the page? 69.134.50.153 20:05, 12 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Photo of HQ was uploaded on 9/9/06, but I do not know how to link it into this page. Photo name, as uploaded, is Charlotte_Observer_HQ.jpg. Anyone who is able, please link the photo into this page. Thanks!

Neutrality Questioned

edit

I added the marker for questionable neutrality to the statement "Generally, The Observer takes a liberal editorial stance, and usually endorses Democratic candidates." This statement should be substantiated by a reliable reference, or removed. Rturnham (talk) 18:24, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I deleted the above mentioned paragraph due to irrelevant and misleading information (as well as failure to cite sources as requested in December). Labeling The Observer's editorial members as middle-of-the-road is far from accurate. Read Sunday's (April 26th) paper when they accused the North Carolina Republican party of playing the race game, or the editor's defense of Obama's relationship with Rev. Wright. I don't believe there will ever be a consensus regarding their leanings; therefore, the most accurate portrayal is to not portray it at all. --UNCdub (talk) 17:44, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Despite lack of consensus regarding their leanings, a paragraph on the subject should still be included. Not being familiar with the paper, I thought mention of any political leaning was conspicuous in its absence. OperaticNun (talk) 12:50, 30 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Breaking News

edit

On Monday, June 16, 2008, The Charlotte Observer announced a staff reduction of 123 employees, through a combination of voluntary and involuntary layoffs. As an employee of the Observer, I will not take it upon myself to update the article, but this may be of passing interest. I will provide the update if another Wikipedia editor (non-employee) recommends that I proceed. Rturnham

On Monday, May 5, 2008, The Charlotte Observer offered buyout packages to an undisclosed number of employees, as reported by The Business Journal, and confirmed by this editor (a non-journalist employee). Is this of sufficient interest to add it to the article? Rturnham (talk) 15:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I believe this information should be posted; however, it may only be relevant for a few months. --UNCdub (talk) 17:51, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Question About Circulation

edit

Circulation numbers are correct per the cited sources, but are not up-to-date. As an employee, I can provide up-to-date circulation numbers, updated monthly, based on internal sources. These numbers would be accurate, but not verifiable outside the company. Would such an update be appropriate, or not? Thanks for your input! Rturnham
