Volumes, notes
editExcept for the first volume to be published (vol. 7), the volume number is printed in the colophon in each book. And the volume number of ALL volumes can be seen on Fantagraphics' page The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library. So I see no reason for the many references about volume numbers. Benadikt (talk) 11:52, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure the volumes numbers weren't on the Fantagraphics page last year, that's why there was a reference for the first release. And then I guess that because there was one for the first release, someone put one for the second too when it came out, and so on… They're probably useless now, so if you want to remove them, I don't have a problem with that. 2.3.182.196 (talk) 11:53, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
Junior Woodchucks?
editDoes anyone know if Carl Barks stories from Junior Woodchucks are going to eventually be collected in this series?

Censorship
edit- The article says the books in this series are completely uncensored. I don't think that remains true as of the most recent volume "Under the Polar Ice". References to scalping by Native Americans are omitted from the Donald Duck story "Riding the Pony Express".

- The article says "Volumes 5-22 were completely uncensored", but it seems book 21 "Christmas in Duckburg" has also been censored according to https://featherysociety.proboards.com/post/18334/thread
The mentioned panel is on page 108 of volume 21.
You can see the change in one panel in volume 21 here:

The removed content:
- Volume 21 - altered dialogue / removed content.
- The first printing includes the statement: "Some dialogue in this edition has been updated."
- In the story "The Lovelorn Fireman" at page 108, the word "holocaust" was replaced with "conflagration".
- The story "The Flying Farm Hand" has been removed from the second printing.
- Note: In the second printing (released late 2022, but dated January 2023), the disclaimer regarding altered dialogue is removed, and the original text is restored.
- Volume 23 - altered dialogue
- The table of contents includes the statement: "The artwork in these comics stories is reproduced here in its entirety as first created in 1959-1960.
- The story "Trail Tycoon", has altered dialogues regarding Native Americans.
- The story "The Wax Museum", has altered dialogues regarding Native Americans.
- Note: The second printing restores all the original dialogue.
- Volume 26 - Altered dialogue / altered content.
- The story "Bongo on the Congo" retains edits done by the publisher Gladstone from the 1980s, this includes altered pannels and dialogue.[1] This may be corrected in future reprints.
- Volume 28 - Missing content.
- Volume 4 - Missing content.
- Volume 3 - Altered dialogue / removed content.
Italian version
editThe Italian version has NO series title! Rizzoli Lizard is the publisher of the first two volumes, vol. 7 and vol. 12. Benadikt (talk) 20:46, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
Page count
editThe page count in the table seem to be very random. In some cases it is the number of numbered pages, like the libraries use.[10] (Vol. 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 24, 27). In one case it is the total number of pages like they use in The Comic Book Price Guide and The Grand Comics Database.[11] (Vol. 13). In most cases none of these two. (Vol. 7, 8, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26). Benadikt (talk) 11:01, 25 June 2023 (UTC)

Censorship II
editA user edited out the whole censorship section, for absolutely the right reasons: that section was not based on reliable sources. She adds: "I've looked for coverage of this in reliable sources, but as far as I can tell, there is none." I've written a very lengthy article as part of a cancelled book project last year, published this summer, that would at least work as partial source, since it underwent editorial process and was not (!) self-published. BUT: it is in german. And I as the writer am biased, so I wont put it in the article - maybe I'm wrong and my publication is not reliable. The book is the following: http://www.comic-i.com/aaa-icom/docs/ipj_2024.html Maybe that helps (probably not, the chances of a german reader editiong here are very thin). 95.90.124.125 (talk) 09:15, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Could be useful! It is difficult for me as a non-German-speaker to judge, though.--AlexandraIDV 19:15, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
