Proposed merge of The Day the Rains Came (song) into Le jour où la pluie viendra
edit"Le jour où la pluie viendra: is a original. The song was a hit. Then it recieved many covers + English and German adaptation. Richhoncho I think that if any merges should happen, it should be merging edither English or German, or both, into the article of "Le jour ou la pluie viendra", otherwise there would be a mess of explinations. Should we list all descriptions for French original and it's covers on a article page of an English cover? I don't think so...Dalida Editor please ping or message me 14:01, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- We are not discussing the notability of any version, or language. This is merely an discussion under WP:NSONGS, that different versions of the same song do not have separate articles. for an example see American Pie (song), or many other songs which have been hits for different people, including different languages are merged into one article. If you say Le jour... is the original and therefore should be the title of the article, I have no objection. Perhaps you would like to merge now instead of creating new articles? --Richhoncho (talk) 14:47, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Okay, I tought they all should have separate articles as all of them have been hits in their own name + it is somehow confusing and complicated to explain the chronology of releases. But it will do best if it is all sorted under original, for the sake of explinations. Additionaly I just found out how webpage of Billboard places song #21 while their magazine from 1958 places it #14. Dalida Editor please ping or message me 16:00, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Per WP:TITLE on English language Wikipedia we use English language titles and the common name, which in English is the song's English language title. The song's English language title is a rough translation of "Le jour où la pluie viendra" anyway. Le jour où la pluie viendra should be merged here, which is the original article anyway.--Tdl1060 (talk) 11:08, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- For instance, "Cherry Pink (and Apple Blossom White)" is not titled "Cerisiers Roses et Pommiers Blancs", "I Will Follow Him" is not titled "Chariot", "Let It Be Me" is not titled "Je t'appartiens", and "Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer" is not titled "Du spielst 'ne tolle Rolle". To name these song articles any other way would be a blatant violation of article title policy.--Tdl1060 (talk) 11:41, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
