Merging this article, or not
editOn September 4, 2006, it was suggested that this article be merged into the one about the Grateful Dead. I'm removing the merge suggestion from both articles. I'm explaining why in the discussion about the proposed merge on the Grateful Dead talk page. -- Mudwater 18:19, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
vandals?
editThe Deads last performance was as the supporting act for Portugease Black Metal band Behemoth on the 13th of December 2007. Georgia.[2]

2009 spring tour
editThe only detail mentioned from the tour is the Tipper Gore cameo from 4/14. This was not such an important or high-profile moment to warrant such mention here. Spark240 (talk) 21:12, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Proposed merger
editIt has been proposed that the article The Other Ones be merged into this article. Let's discuss that here. I'll start.
- Oppose. I can infer the reason for the suggestion, since both The Other Ones and The Dead were bands that included multiple former members of the Grateful Dead. But, really they were two different bands. First there was The Other Ones, then there was The Dead. Besides the names being different, some of the personnel were different too. We, and our readers, are better off leaving the articles separate. — Mudwater (Talk) 00:35, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
It's been three weeks, and no one has posted in favor of the merge, so I'm taking down the {{Merge from}} and {{Merge to}} tags. — Mudwater (Talk) 12:13, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
After the Dead
editLooking at the current version of the article, I propose removing the last two paragraphs, starting with "Since Furthur's dissolution in November 2014..." This is a lot of information about what happened with bands that are not the Dead. It would be a good fit for the Grateful Dead article -- lots of stuff happened after the Grateful Dead disbanded in 1995, including all of this -- but these details are not really helpful in this article, I think. What do other editors say? (Pinging @Middle 8: who recently expanded this text.) — Mudwater (Talk) 18:11, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- Agreed; should be elsewhere (if it isn't already!). Happy editing --Middle 8 (s)talk • privacy 18:16, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've gone ahead and taken that out. And for another fun discussion, check out Talk:Grateful Dead#This article is terrible and needs to be completely rewritten. — Mudwater (Talk) 20:24, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
