editI changed the redirect back from "The Thirty Years War." The last and most destructive of the great European religious wars is slightly more significant than a prog-rock band.
Where is the proof of him using a "**Marshall JCM900 1960A Slant 4x12 cabinet" Every picture of him on tour is only with the 2 orange cabinets. -XtacoX
- I think this is in reference to the thirty years' war page (from the link at the bottom) where he says that's what he uses. He probably doesn't use it anymore though. 24.60.196.65 14:52, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
User:XtacoX - just wanted to say your small edits make the article sound much better Jubella 19:12, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
yeah i've seen a lot of pics with him using that amp. I even have one with him using it. L33TGuy 18:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Disambig page needed
editThere should be a disambig page for this...there is a classical work by the same name, as well as an often-covered ballad. A google search turns up a lot. Turly-burly 16:24, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
It's fine. L33TGuy 18:01, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Just throw in a disamb. line at the top. Also, I don't thing the old artile should be merged, it was a different band, and it had members that arent in this one.
- it seems like there should just be a 30 years war section under the fall of troy article, this whole thing is like one band that is evolving over time. Zopwx2 22:47, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Who put that part about Tribune in history? Tim (Ward) said that Jay Beaman was the drummer, not Zach. Here's my reference (Tyim is Timothy Ward) http://windflame.net/fot/forums/index.php?showtopic=2755&st=0&#entry58009
--Ciaranpower 13:25, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
ANyone have any information about the the lighting effects guy? I saw them in Endicott NY and some weird guy I've never seen before pop out of their tour band named Kyle I believed. He then went on stage as the guy who strobes and flashes the light to the music.
Isn't it time to delete/clean up the "Breakup Rumors" part? This is old information and probably wasn't encyclopedia-worthy in the first place. It's all pretty much junk stuff anyway, unless the part about them touring nonstop can be put somewhere else. 24.60.196.65 14:52, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Citations Needed
edit"The Fall of Troy draws from the progressive roots of bands like Rush (a stated influence) and King Crimson, while also combining it with the modern experimental sound influenced by bands like At the Drive-In and The Blood Brothers.[citation needed]"
It says that in the thanks and whatnot part of the booklit that came with the Doppleganger cd.. I don't know that was be cited though, so if anyway else knows how, you could do it. I'll post up what it exactly says once I get out of school sometime later. (-Kid. 16:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC))
- What booklet is this? I didn't get one with my doppelganger. But I think you would use the <*ref><*/ref> tags (without the stars) and put something like "TFOT promotional Doppelganger booklet, page whatever, Equal Vision records, 2005" or something. That may not be exactly right but it gets rid of the ugly cite needed tag. If you're unsure how to use the ref tags tell me here and I'll explain it clearer for you. Good find on the booklet thing! Olliemilne 17:01, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Why would you need an actual citation for this? I'd consider the albums themselves to be a fairly reliable source for influences, when you can hear it in the music.
- Because it says "a stated influence" - stated where? By who? Its like saying "some people think..." who are some people? You have to be clear. Olliemilne 18:54, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Could someone tell me how you record an album "in one take over spring break in one week" ? So they just spaced out this one take over the course of a week? It was a week long album? This is just a stupid publicity story with no factual accuracy behind it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.2.51.144 (talk) 13:33, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Falloftroypromo.jpg
editImage:Falloftroypromo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Split EP
editIn an interview I filmed for UCast (University of Cincinnati's student television station) on October 27, 2007 at the Mad Hatter in Covington, KY Thomas said that the split EP was just a rumor.JaredX 23:48, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Who Killed This Page?
editI have noticed that this page has been reworked but I have stumbled upon many problems, chief among them are the following:
1. Whilst using the search toolbar, there is no longer a redirection to the band, The Fall of Troy, upon using the search bar. (Now if 'the fall of troy' is typed into the search toolbar, one is automatically redirected to an article concerning the famed Turkish city of Troy)
2. There is no longer a link to a discography section.
3. The writing style of this page since it's reworking is unsophisticated. The writing itself is comprised of useful facts, which is commendable, however it is not written in an easy-to-follow manner.
If anyone at all wouldn't mind addressing one or all of these problems I would be most greatful.
Bakalakadaka (talk) 23:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I've addressed these problems, or at least most of them. I cleaned up the grammer, use of italics and quotes, added a "Discography" and "Videography" section, and added a link to this page from the historical fall of Troy page. However, the problem with the writing style has not been addressed yet. Enjoy! Machu505 (talk) 01:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

- Not Frank Black aka Black Francis, former Pixies front man. Go look at the TFOT Myspace and you can see a photo of him and you'll clearly notice that he is as far from that particular Frank Black as is possible to be. Olliemilne (talk) 05:27, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
The debut album fault
editTheballsoftroy (talk) 14:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
It says that the only song written by the Thirty Years War was "Reassurance Rests in the Sea", yet on the Thirty Years War's live album, Live at the Paradox, they perform Spartacus, F.C.P.S.I.T.S.G.E.P.G.E.P.G.E.P.,Mouths Like Sidewinder Missiles, and Rockstar Nailbomb... all songs from the eponymous debut. Either I am mistaken about who and when Live at the Paradox was recorded or there's a confusing mistake in this that needs to be fixed.
post hardcore
editi dont get how the citation can be valid. it is in a review, and reviews are almost all opinions. fall of troy does not sound anything like post hardcore, and i dont think it can be considered it at all. --71.203.149.71 (talk) 07:02, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- No offense but that's a ridiculous statement. All reviews, labelling of genres or anything else to do with a band that cannot be quantified is all opinion-based; this does not mean it must be excluded from a band's page. It is professional reviews that are used as the citations. James25402 (talk) 21:25, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
not to mention they ARE post-hardcore.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.84.138.75 (talk) 18:08, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
They're experimental... not post hardcore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.85.144.141 (talk) 21:46, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- >Implying post-hardcore and experimental are mutually exclusive
- >implying bands cannot work within multiple genres
- Seriously dude, they're both 143.92.1.33 (talk) 02:22, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Members section
editI changed "Frank Black" to "Frank Ene" because in a video about the new album (found here), it shows Frank, and in the bottom left it says "Frank Ene/bass, backup vocals" around 1:32 or 1:33 into the video. If anyone has a problem with my edit, feel free to revert it, although I'm pretty sure that's his correct name. 97.97.199.110 (talk) 17:12, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- It seems an anon reverted my edit to the members section. Anyone wanna confirm the last name of Frank, as there are sources confirming "Black" and "Ene" as a possible last name? Anyone know which is correct? 97.97.199.110 (talk) 17:17, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- I am pretty confused about this as well. On the press release for In the Unlikely Event he is listed as Frank Ene, however on the members section of The Fall of Troy's official website he is listed as Frank Black. In general, it seems that most sources prior the the announcement of the upcoming album listed him as Frank Black, and everything after lists him as Frank Ene. Because Frank is credited in the liner notes for Phantom on the Horizon as Frank Black, then that article should continue to read as such. As for everywhere else? Until further notice from the band or label, I think it is safe to assume that he is currently known as Frank Ene, and so that is what the members section of this article and possibly In the Unlikely Event should read. Just be sure not to post anywhere that is name was changed or something until that can be confirmed through a reliable source. How does that sound? Fezmar9 (talk) 21:36, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds good, I suppose. 97.97.199.110 (talk) 05:40, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

vomiting winter
edithow come that isn't on the new album iCheets (talk) 03:41, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- It might be on the new album, but until it can be confirmed through a reliable source it would be considered original research to post that it will be on the new album. The song leaked onto the internet about a year ago. Maybe it won't be on the new album, and maybe it will be. Maybe it was one of the four already mentioned songs in the press release with a different name. It's usually best to wait for a source to become available. Fezmar9 (talk) 04:04, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
ok, that makes perfect sense, i love that song when tom doesn;t sing, hafve you seen the youtube version in the basement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ICheets (talk • contribs) 05:47, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
