"Jewish writer"

edit
  • In contrast, Jewish writer Jeff Sharlet wrote a book...
    • It is not important, necessary, or relevant to mention that the writer is Jewish here (which is somewhat debatable according to the reference). I believe the entire lead section needs to be rewritten as well. Viriditas (talk) 03:22, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
    • This entire article is little more than a rehash of Sharlet's conspiracy theory concerning the organization. That Sharlet is Jewish is probably as relevant as almost anything else in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.208.169.26 (talk) 14:25, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Douglas Coe is deceased

edit

I cannot find who is currently the leader of the organization, but Coe died in February 2017. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.141.175.125 (talk) 17:48, 15 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Connection/depiction on Netflix

edit

Netflix released a documentary about the group. Saemikneu (talk) 17:11, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Saemikneu They did. If it is similar to many other documentaries hosted by Netflix, impartiality will not be at the forefront. Most of those I have seen have been polemics, often with undisclosed conflicts of interest. - Sitush (talk) 14:23, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

List of members

edit

I love the list of members seen here. Could it be kept in? Skinnytony1 (talk) 06:52, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I agree with Skinnytony1. Why was this list removed. Knowing some of the members of the organization (or whatever one wants to call it) is very helpful for the reader to try to understand what the group (The Fellowship) is about and what it may be trying to achieve. The names of actual members speaks louder to the nature of the organization than what pundits might put in published articles -- or even books as the case may be. I think the list should be reinstated, unless someone can really explain why it should not be. --L.Smithfield (talk) 01:53, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@L.smithfield Undue weight, BLP issues. - Sitush (talk) 14:19, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Prayer Breakfast speakers

edit

Seeing some duplication of effort with NPB page Speakers section. There should be a way to share one resource/container/object between pages - better collaboration, reduce wasted effort, eliminate problem of keeping things in sync - have one superset of data easily/efficiently available (quality user experience/UI) to multiple pages.

Can think of numerous other examples of this data problem. Who's got answers? Doug Grinbergs (talk) 02:49, 1 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Doug Grinbergs I removed it. Completely unnecessary here. - Sitush (talk) 14:19, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Who founded Goodwill Industries?

edit

The article claims that Goodwill Industries was founded by Vereide in 1916, but the Goodwill Industries article says it was founded by Edgar J. Helms in 1902. This discrepancy needs to be cleared up. Was it, for example, that Vereide actually founded a branch of Goodwill in Seattle, not the whole company (which is how the article reads). Bill Jefferys (talk) 15:15, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Maybe a different Goodwill Industries was meant? Ian.thomson (talk) 15:19, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Trump

edit

Why is Donald Trump mentioned in numerous footnotes, yet the name "Donald Trump" appears nowhere in the actual text of the article? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 14:49, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Presumably because Trump attended the Prayer Breakfast, where he uttered his usual politicized nonsense wildly inappropriate to the occasion (see also his speech to the Boy Scouts etc etc ad nauseam), but he has no deeper ties to "The Fellowship" organization... Conspiracy theories

edit

Too many overcites etc in this but, worse, too many attempts to promote conspiracies via amateur detective work and primary sources. It won't do, and I'm ripping into it.

I also think we may need to reduce our reliance on Sharlett. I know he wrote the books but he was also involved, so he's a questionable source. - Sitush (talk) 13:38, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
