"The Greatest Hit" was the original title of the song. It wasn't referred to as "Greatest Hit" until it was included on Anniemal. PiracyFundsTerrorism (talk) 14:59, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: not moved as unambiguous. WP:COMMONNAME, WP:PRECISION, and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC indicate leaving at the base name. JHunterJ (talk) 01:21, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
Requested move (2012)
editThe Greatest Hit → The Greatest Hit (Annie song) — "The Greatest Hit" is a highly generic title and should redirect to the disambiguation page Greatest Hits (disambiguation), since it is commonly used in hyperbole, and thus does not generally refer to this song. 76.65.128.132 (talk) 09:44, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

- Support - This is obviously the right solution. No one artiste shouid be able to appropriate the plain title. Peterkingiron (talk) 18:35, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:PRECISE. What else is called precisely "The Greatest Hit" that someone searching for or linking to that phrase would expect to find? There is nothing on the dab page or anywhere else on WP with that name. Station1 (talk) 00:09, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. An actual article title should take priority over a redirect to nowheresville. As Station1 already noted, we don't lump similar phrases together when their meanings can be distinguished. But I should mention that there is an equally notable song of this title by the Funkoars. Kauffner (talk) 05:41, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Comment wouldn't that make disambiguation an option then? 76.65.128.132 (talk) 09:15, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- The Funkoars song doesn't have its own article. You can make a DAB, but I don't see a basis to take primary topic status away from this article. Kauffner (talk) 09:49, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Support. It is obvious that the singer intends the title to be taken as descriptive or generic, to attract more interest and even perhaps notoriety. Wikipedia should not be a party to that, or be duped by that. It should not participate by duping its readers. The present title is deceptive to almost all readers. Move to the slightly longer and far more informative version. [Details fixed later; I had things the wrong way round.–Noetica]NoeticaTea? 06:41, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:PRECISE. This is the only entity at Wikipedia called "The Greatest Hit". The hatnote can lead readers to similarly titled pages (such as Greatest Hits). — AjaxSmack 01:11, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
