Created standard "Roles" box with voice types, premieres etc
editThere seems to be little point in having 2 separate boxes, especially one with Russian names as well as English ones, on English Wikipedia. Viva-Verdi (talk) 20:01, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Bedyay
editI have a doubt: In the real history existed any mongol general named Bedyay??--Nogai Khan (talk) 03:08, 26 September 2008 (UTC).
- Well in Russian cronicles one of the Batu tumen leaders is named Bedyay (Урдюй, Байдаръ, Бирюй, Кайданъ, Бечак, и Меньгу, и Куюк..., се Бедяй богатуръ и Бурунъдай багатырь...). Usually this Bedyay is identified as Subutai (see e.g. [1]). But opera's libretto is based on legends and fairy tales rather than real history. Beda (Беда) in Russian mean trouble or misfortune and the yay suffix brings some fairy tale - oriental flavor. Alex Bakharev (talk) 05:33, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
- I could not resist and put the probable historical identification of the Tatar generals into the article. If you think that it is WP:SYNTH, revert me, you are probably right Alex Bakharev (talk) 05:45, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Fevronia vs Fervroniya
editIn the article The Tale of Peter and Fevronia the maiden'n name is uniformly spelled Fevronia. I guess it is based on the name used in English translation of the medieval tale. In this article she is sometimes named Fevronia and sometimes Fevroniya. Is there any reason for this? Alex Bakharev (talk) 04:57, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
