Abbreviation (Math. Gazette vs. Math. Gaz.)

edit

While it is true that one sometimes sees Math. Gaz. in publications. However, here we are supposed to give the ISO 4 abbreviation; and the ISO 4 rule is that one should use LTWA; and LTWA lists "Gaz." for "Gazette" only for French. Thus, the proper ISO 4 abbreviation is Math. Gazette, not Math. Gaz. In my most recent edit, I have included a reference to LTWA.

I have explained this in the edit summaries for my edits of 23:11, 2 June 2023‎ and 17:14, 5 June 2023, but my first edit was reverted without comment. Reuqr (talk) 17:44, 5 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

As I already said, I am well aware that some reputable sources abbreviate it as Math. Gaz. My point is that this is not in accordance with ISO 4, and in the article infobox we are saying that we are giving ISO 4. I am fine with giving Math. Gaz. as long as we are not claiming that it is ISO 4! --Reuqr (talk) 01:19, 8 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Math. Gaz. is ISO 4. As explained on RK's talk page, LTWA says the root of the word is French, not that it should only be abbreviated in French. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 00:25, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
