Aviation stub

I read the book and I agree it has nothing to do with aviation. Also, although the book may lack a section on every single step required to achieve colonization of space, it does have the grand vision of an ultimate goal that NASA seems to be terrified of discussing for fear of revealing that they are Star Trek/Star Wars/Heinlein fans. If the single most powerful nation in the world can't take a millenium-long view, we will fail to achieve the goal. Indeed. I don't agree with some of Savage's philosophical stances, so to speak, but I definitely think we need to start planning for the longer term and colonizing space is an integral part of that—a viewpoint which is sorely underrepresented, in my opinion. Even if the steps we follow turn out to be very different, the book has described some very clever ideas, and (perhaps even more importantly) expressed a wonderful sense of enthusiasm and spirit of progress that seems to be missing from today's lethargic space programs. 164.55.254.106 19:10, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Merge

There is very little material on Living Universe Foundation that is not already on The Millennial Project: Colonizing the Galaxy in Eight Easy Steps and there does not seem to be enough to justify a separate article. If a large enough amount of material about the foundation is added to the project article, then it could be split out again, but for now it isn't very useful. -- 159.182.1.4 17:05, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Looks like that's what was done, because clicking on Living Universe Foundation redirects to this same article. I removed the link since LUF doesn't have its own page to link to. -- Strumphs (talk) 15:54, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

Cosmic Rays and Solar Flares

The article currently reads: "The author fails to address the dangers of cosmic rays as well as any potential measures that may be taken to mitigate those dangers. No argument of the dangers of solar flares or coronal mass ejections is presented in this book."

This is incorrect; Appendices 3.6 and 3.7 of the book are specifically devoted to radiation hazards, including solar flares and cosmic rays. I'm updating the article to remove these two sentences. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.12.253.223 (talk) 02:24, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
