What can I do to avoid a speedy deletion? This is a major record that documents some very hard to find songs as performed by their original artists? J04n (talk) 02:13, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Notability
editI believe that this is a notible album; until it's release most Deadheads had never heard many of THESE versions of these songs. These were the versions that inspired the Grateful Dead to be the Grateful Dead. There is also historical significance to this album because you CAN'T hear some of these versions ANYWHERE else. - What you're saying here explains the musical significance of this album, and why it's of importance to people who are interested in the Grateful Dead, or in American roots music. But it doesn't explain why the album is notable in the Wikipedia sense. As it says at Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline, "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article." See that page and especially that section for more information about this important Wikipedia concept, and see also Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Albums, singles and songs.
:: It's an album put out by Henry Kaiser, who is notable by the fucked up Wikipedia standards, therefore, notable. Get over yourself.
- In the article's infobox, I've added links to additional professional reviews, and I've also added several new citations in the References section. I really think that these, along with the citations that were there before, are sufficient for establishing that this album is notable. It was reviewed in Entertainment Weekly, The San Francisco Examiner, The Music Box, and Allmusic, and was mentioned in The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. That certainly constitutes significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. (I didn't put this in the article, but it's also listed on the Rolling Stone web site, here.) I'm therefore going to go ahead and remove the Notability template. — Mudwater (Talk) 04:45, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
