Future Release List
editI'm not going to say that it's wrong (mostly down to the fact that I hope it's not), however I checked the site that the information was taken from and the random post on a random forum shows that it's a 'friend of a friend heard this' kind of idea and then that person has just listed most of the highly reguarded Marvel story arc collection. The other reason is that in the post on the forum the writer states that his 'friend' recieved an e-mail from customer services, but I myself e-mailed them to simply ask if the Marvel Zombies or the Civil War series were to be included to see if it was worth me picking up now or holding off. This is part of the reply I got via e-mail:
We cannot confirm ifthe Civil War story arc and/or the Marvel Zombies series will be included as we do not have an issue lsiting as of yet.
--LloydyJr (talk) 03:21, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Lloydy − I've just received Issue 22, which is Marvel Zombies (1-5). Incidentally, I don't know what the release dates on the article page refer to, as they say Issue 22 was released in October, yet I've only just received it today (December 24th 2012)? Jaruzel (talk) 09:52, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
I just noticed that the list has been updated with a further 3 titles bringing the total to 63 as opposed to the original 60 which seems strange considering the fact that the spines of the books are made up in such a way that when collected together create a large artwork for display. The issues that were added and I am referring to are X-Men: Second Genesis, Venom & Marvel 60's and I was just wondering if whoever added this could maybe let me know where they got this information? Thanks in advance! LloydyJr (talk) 01:47, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Total number of issues
editI've just had confirmation (on the 17th January 2017) that the issue count is still 150: "There are 150 issues currently planned for the collection." Jaruzel (talk) 16:13, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
I have just spoke with Hachette (3rd March 2017) and they confirmed that it will now be 170 issues, but wouldn't comment on the content. 16:55, 3 March 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.25.133.151 (talk)
Why do we have this article?
editI wont say that this article is completely wrong but I do feel that the article is wrongly structured
- By the number of links on this page it is clear that the individual editions and stories are more important than the Series per se. I suggest that you either club them together based on characters, stories or time-lines. I think an expert would be required here
- Shouldn't this article speak more about the contributors or artists involved? Shouldn't there be some unique achievements or stories? I don't know. I am not a big reader of Marvel Comics. But if the answer is no then I suggest you merge (a more condensed version) it with the main Marvel Comics article.
Some thoughts on this would be surely welcome. Wikishagnik (talk) 16:40, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Good comments, but I wouldn't really know about what would be best. I found this stub and have just tried to get it updated as the comic books are released. Of course, if it benefits from the suggestions, it should be done. Causbrite (talk) 09:55, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
I came to this page looking for further information on the graphic novel collection and it served that purpose, whether the details are 100% accurate or not. I'm not sure what purpose merging this into the Marvel main page would serve, apart from making the information a little more difficult to find. One suggestion I would make is perhaps adding release dates (or months) of the issues. There's 60 coming out bi-weekly, so that's 30 months. --Feduciary (talk) 16:30, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I really want to know this but which information did you find here that you did not find in the main article of Marvel Comics. I am not trying to look for excuses to delete this article, but get a better idea if a merge is or is not advisable. --Wikishagnik (talk) 18:24, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Feduciary - I don't think merging this page would be a good idea. This page serves it's purpose of informing people about this single collection. Adding it to the main Marvel page would "drown" it in in this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.27.233.157 (talk) 19:03, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
I too hope that this will stay a page on its own. I use it regularly to see which book will be the next to come out, and up until now, it has always been correct. I feel that the series is more important than the individual editions. I think the link with Hachette is as strong as the link with Marvel, so why would you merge it with Marvel and not with Hachette? After all, the title of the series is "The Ultimate Graphic Novels Collection" - Marvel, or "The Official 'Marvel' Graphic Novels Collection". So it may perfectly be possible that sometime in the future Hachette will do a similar thing for DC, and call that series "The Official 'DC' Graphic Novels Collection" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jocospano (talk • contribs) 09:36, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
As to the question 'what information did I find here that is not in the main Marvel article - nor in the articles of each individual comic or character ?'. The fact that each of the editions/stories that are mentioned here, were published between 2011 - 201? as part of a set, some sort of 'best of' that, when placed together, forms a nice collection because the different backs of the books together form one big painting. Jocospano (talk) 10:25, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- I think this page should stay and not be merged as it would be useful for people who don't collect weeklies and don't know all the story arcs. It could be fleshed out with summaries of each of issues, or even cross-links back to information elsewhere about where the stories continue on. Jaruzel (talk) 09:56, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
This article should remain independent, as it is about an unusual outlet for Marvel comic stories (in fact independent of the Marvel publishing group itself) which works together to complete a unique set. I don't agree that it should carry any focus on the writers or artists of the original stories as these details should remain with entries that relate to their original appearance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scorpion5961 (talk • contribs) 20:44, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
Time sensitive article — can we keep this updated?
editIt has been a couple of days, by observation, since the most recent book came out, yet there does not seem to be any updates to it. For such a time-sensitive article (where new information is released literally each fortnight), being behind on that shouldn't be occurring; I actually felt tempted to put an {{update}} (or similar) template at the top. Can someone please keep this updated, or at least get it up to date now? (And no, I can't do it myself; Australia is about five or six months behind.) --JB Adder | Talk 01:42, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'm updating it whenever I get the chance. Ruffice98 (talk) 21:10, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
Where are you getting the information from?Matt14451 (talk) 07:50, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
- Most of the information will come from comics outlets, the websites themselves, or, in the case of the MMH series, the Twitter feed. --JB Adder | Talk 04:11, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
DC colletion included in this page...why?
editI just checked up on the information regarding the DC collection, and I noticed that it is an Eaglemoss colletion, not a Hachette one like the others. So I'm wondering why is it included here? --JB Adder | Talk 02:00, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
I agree that it should get its own page, I've started to work on it but need to add the rest of the books and more information, it is a work in progress but should be ready very soon.Matt14451 (talk) 07:49, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
Strip down the last paragraph in the lead-in
editOkay, this is probably the second time I've had to say something about that paragraph. This time, however, it's because of how "fluffy" (i.e. full of unnecessary fluff) it's become. Simply put: we don't need everything that's written there, there.
- Marvel's Mightiest Heroes is related so it might as well stay there (plus it's in the article).
- Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection isn't related to Marvel, so that link shoud be moved to a Hachette page. Similarly, Doctor Who: The Complete History should bee moved theere too.
- DC Comics Graphic Novel Collection is being published by Eaglemoss, an unrelated company, and hence shouldn't be linked here in the first place, except maybe as a "See Also" (and even that I'm ish about.)
Can I suggest we move these link out of here? --JB Adder | Talk 04:34, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi, theres not enough information, unless you can find it, for Hachette page and so this is the onply to relate Judge Dredd to this.Matt14451 (talk) 06:36, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Volume numbers for exclusives
editThis is a pretty big issue, especially for the main list: the volume numbers for the regional exclusives are not present, and they probably should be, especially given that different countries are at different points in the series. Can someone find out which issues are which and include them in the relevant tables, please? --JB Adder | Talk 04:08, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
