Fair use rationale for Image:Offspring - ST 1989.jpg
editImage:Offspring - ST 1989.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:53, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Certifications
editThe recent addition of certifications from various countries looks ridiculous and stretches out the page to unnecessary proportions. After checking the sources, only some of the certifications turn out to be true. And after reverting the page, the new certifications seem to make their way to the page from a different IP address every time. I am going to revert the page again to when the article only had certifications from the major countries, and any other certifications that prove to be true can be merged into the corresponding album's page as seen here at Minutes to Midnight (album)#Charts and sales. I do not wish to edit war over this issue any further, and hope this can be a compromising solution. Thank you. Fezmar9 (talk) 22:11, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Chinese Democracy
editThe story explained here about the name Chinese Democracy is quite different from what can be found on the main page. On the main page, it is just supposed to be a joke (as I understand it). Which explanation is accurate ? Halladba (talk) 05:09, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
Not sure what to do anymore...
editThere have been two IPs (one always starting with 201 and the other with 190) that continue to make the same edits to this article. As suggested at the proposed guidelines for a discography, this article should limit the number of charts to around 10 – I would have to agree with this as any more than ten charts makes the page look cluttered, and on a smaller resolution monitor, the tables become crunched together. One of the edits that these IPs continue to preform is the addition of several charts; usually around five to ten more. In the past, about half of the information they added has proven to be verifiable. In the past they have also been known to alter charts and certifications incorrectly. Because of the combination of adding clutter and only half turning out to be true, I have just been reverting their edits. However, this has been going on since at least October 2008 from what I can see in the history, and I am getting tired of constantly reverting their edits. Because their IPs are always changing it makes communication and blocking difficult. Anytime a warning was placed on one of their talk pages, it was obviously ignored. I tried requesting a page protection twice: the first time it was denied because protection is not to be used as a "preemptive strike" against editors, and the second time it was granted but later removed with no explanation. But now I am sick of it, and looking for suggestions. Fezmar9 (talk) 20:53, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- It just happened again and I reverted. I can keep an eye on things and semi-protect if needed, but that's rarely placed indefinitely on an article. Any prior semi-protection mostly likely simply expired. - eo (talk) 00:14, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- The semi-protect was actually removed by an editor within a few days of being protected. Fezmar9 (talk) 07:57, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Offspring singles chart
editWhy were the US radio stats removed ? Even if there should be 10 columns, the US Mainstream and Alternative charts had the most entries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Comablack182 (talk • contribs) 14:59, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Ixnay Sales Totals
editThe article states that Ixnay on the Hombre, while not as successful as Smash, sold over 5 copies. While accurate, I'm sure the number was meant to reflect something higher.WHTJunior (talk) 23:27, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Picture
editI'm fairly new, so I don't know what the policies are on pictures, and don't want to take the liberty of changing it, but is there a better image of The Offspring live that could be used for this article? The picture currently being used is very difficult to see and I would suggest a better image. However, I am not sure what the rules are about fair use, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EmiliustheGreat (talk • contribs) 19:57, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
Orphaned references in The Offspring discography
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of The Offspring discography's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

There is one more song played a few times live quite recently, which should be added to "Cover tracks" section. It is "Whole Lotta Rosie" by AC/DC, a live performancs can be easily found e.g. on youtube. Here is also a link to an article on the topic: [1] Adam.Hlavac.3.14 (talk) 13:27, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
